Guys,

Please give me advice on mounting a remote oil filter on my 2005 Mustang GT...

I use a Glowshift Oil Sending Unit which limits the size of the oil filter I can use so I'm planning on using a remote the oil filter system..

Should I drill holes in the frame near the original oil filter location for the oil filter mount or is there I better place to mount it???

Your comments and opinions are greatly appreciated...

FRPP block adapter.

The adapter is a PITA because it takes a 2" hose. I ended up re-rounting and making all new coolant hoses.

Canton filter. And a bunch of Aeroquip. What a PITA! In retrospect I wish I left the stock stuff on.

The cooler is for the power steering. It's "fed" by the foglight hole.

I like the fender well area better because it is on the same side as the oil connection...

Also I can add an oil cooler at some point in the future...

And I'll probably use stainless steel bolts with nuts to prevent rusting...

Same basic area as above but custom remote filter mount. I had make it farther from the frame because the brake cooling hose goes through that area. I also made the custom engine adapter. Very close to the one Ford sells but uses the standard radiator hose.

dumb question here but what is the advantage of a remote filter? I am thinking of doing an oil cooler. Should I do both?

Adds oil capacity, cools the oil, allows for bigger filters, makes it easier to get to and change especialy for guys with turbo's and charge piping in the way.

If you put an oil cooler in you should also put in an oil thermostat.

Do you have pics of the water hoes? I have the FFRP same adapter, SS lines, -AN fittings and relocation but have not delved into the project because of the water hoses.

lol to prevent the flow of oil until its warm

I know what it does, but why the fuck would i want to do that? lol

Let if flow and get as cool as it wants.

The oil cooler really does very little but add capacity unless the cars moving or you have it placed so the fan can pull on it.

It’s a PITA to take pics of. But I tried. I ended up getting a piece of 2” hose with a 90 in it from the NAPA store and spun out an adapter to go from that to the stock hose size. I ran the hose under the power steering pump. There was no good way to run it up and out of the block past the frame without it rubbing everything. I was able to cut down and use the stock hoses for everything else though.

The only way I could get the -10AN fittings out of the adapter was with 45’s.

I just took as many pics as I could get angles on. If you have any questions let me know.
