Hey guys, I have an 05 gt and putting on simple boltons cai, headers ect ect.... I was wondering who would be the best to go with for a hand held tuner. I know am has lifetime tunes and was also thinking of going with brenspeed. Give me your thoughts and experience's. Thanks, Sal

Lol, I'm in the same boat as you. I've been reading a lot and have seen so much info on the good/bad of every tuner....it's a tough decision.

Did you try searching?

just remember, if you go with AM's tunes for life read the fine print. Doesn't cover going FI.

I had Bama's tunes for awhile and they were decent tunes. I had issues with them sending me the incorrect tune on several occasions though and then having to get it corrected. They kept changing my mod list and giving me the tune for the incorrect intake. It happened three times. The corrected tune was always good.

Eventually I got tired of hassling with it, and I went to Justin Starkey at VMP Performance for my email tunes. His tunes were dead on and I never had a problem. I stuck with VMP until I went FI and then I switched to a local shop for Dyno tunes. Justin even did the start up tune for my car when I first installed my vortech so that I could drive it to my local shop. I was a very satisfied customer of VMP.

I did follow rules I have read many many different posts!!!! I have talked to many friends including tuners. I do a lot of research before I get into anything. This isn't my first rodeo with a mustang. I just simply asked for some extra input on a tuner people had experience with. Looking for the good and the bad.
Thanks.

You don't really need a dyno tune with simple bolt ons, however I did gain 15 rwhp when Travis at Gearheads tuned my 03 2v that had a bama tune on it.

I have a BBR tune and they fucked up and sent me the wrong tune the first time. Nice guys though.

I hear ya. I'm the same way. I think I read TOO much. :D

One forum is all over AED, another BAMA, and another Lund. I'm interested in JPC but I don't see much posted about them. They will tune with Diablosport Intune however, and that's the device I'd like to get. What I have read a lot about are bricked ECUs from the ancient looking SCT (that looks like the FRPP tuner I have) The Intune is also more Mac friendly which I like.

I will be honest I have been wondering the same question. I have read just about every thread I can on the subject. My buddy just bought his tune thru AM and Bama and he said he likes it so far but some guys have said they like VMP and Lund tunes. Theirs a local shop called Archangel that I may have do mine. The other shop here has a rep due to they have blown up a couple cars tuning them. Still on the fence about the whole thing tho...

Has anyone done a stand alone ECU like the imports do? I was looking at Haltech today and they have some impressive stuff. I know in the bike world we would replace the ECU with a Bazzaz or Yoshimura unit and piggy back it with a quick shifter or what ever. The ECUs can give you traction control, timing tables, injector pulse times etc. Just thought I would throw this out and see if anyone has went this route.

Eric Brooks (Brooks Speed). Gained 3 mph in the 1/8th mile over the canned Steeda CAI tune that comes in the predator.
