Won't Run With MAF/MAFia Plugged In

If anyone has followed or taken the time to glance over my previous thread you would know that I have been having strange car problems that happened out of the blue. We have finally traced it to being either PCM or MAF/MAFia related. The car will run fine with the MAF unplugged however as soon as it's plugged back in it will try to die. Just replaced the MAF sensor with a new Ford one and had no luck. Could the MAFia have gone bad? I did't have the front cover on the MAFia so I figured maybe moisture got into the board and fried it, however it still powers up. Just trying to see if anyone has experienced this problem or has any advice. I'm just hoping it's not PCM related.

try plugging in just the MAF and not the Mafia....If the car idles fine and drives fine then it is the Mafia....We had 2 go bad on a buddies car and that is how we troubleshot it....If car is F/I don't get into boost or you could blow it up since the stock MAF will probably be maxxed out...

Well the MAF is located in the intercooler and it will not reach to the plug. I unplugged the MAFia and plugged in another MAF though and it wouldn't run whatsoever... may be due to the fact that it just dangled out of the connector while I tried to start it though.

see if you can borrow a MAFia from someone local and try to rule that out, hopefully its not the PCM

Unfortunately I couldn't find anyone local that had one I could borrow. I have one on it's way that should be here sometime Wednesday. Has anyone heard of PCM failure on these cars?

Yes, there have been PCM failures on these cars. Not one that I have heard of to where if you plug the MAF sensor in the car won't run... but yes, I have heard of PCM failures. Hell, I had a PCM that failed.

Why don't you just extend your MAF sensor wires? Not like it is that big of a deal to cut the wires and extend them. Might save yourself a little grief. Basic troubleshooting 101 so to speak.

My Tuner said that since he tuned it in position 2, that the car would run like crap with the wires just extended. That's why I decided to just go ahead and get a new MAFia to rule that out. If that's not the problem I guess it would be PCM failure....and I'm sure that's not cheap
