I'm sorry to hear this man.

I was gonna say that the synchro is going out in 2nd, there's a TSB on it, but your tranny is the new one. Maybe Tremec used the cheap ones again. When the S197s first came out, Ford told Tremec to use the cheaper synchros. Now, they are paying for it... Lucky for them, I was out of warranty when it happened to me....

Good luck at the dealership.

Thanks dude. Yeah, this is the new Getrag unit if I understand right. I'm sitting at the dealer right now; they're going to do a basic diagnosis then hopefully put me in a rental. If they don't give me a rental it will be because they'll have it repaired tomorrow, which would be just as good. I don't see it happening, though.

Nothing sucks worse than having to repair a new car.
I had to have my windshield replaced after just two weeks, three chips and 1 was a runner.
I know not the same crap as your issues, but still sucked.

I spoke with a local axle/gear guru who says the axle whine is almost guaranteed to be from the poly bushings in the control arms allowing more noise to transfer (which I believe is what Chad was getting at.) He said if it's actually a bad install it would have made noise sooner and been much worse. He recommends I give it a few thousand miles and see if it worsens before I have the dealer tear into it, but he's confident the sound is from the control arms. Still turning it in to have the 1-2 shift addressed, though. Oh- and to have the passenger mirror replaced.

Nah, if you own a GM product long enough, you end up figuring out that owning a Mustang is the correct choice, all on your own. I've already converted one GM owner this week, going for two.

it isn't hard if they've owned enough GMs. My best friend had a new 5.7 CTS-V in 04, then the next incarnation with the 6.0 motor in 07 (same hp and torque). Thought it was bad ass, until I let him drive my 4.6 with it's 'only 300 hp, 4.6'. Same 0-60, same 1/4 mile, less weight, better looking, 2 door, Mustang mystique,,etc,,etc,,etc. Now he owns a 08 Bullitt. Says it's the finset car he's ever owned.

I got a slight whine after lcas and adj uca. Must be the more solid mounts transmitting some noise.

The "Hotline" says grinding into second gear is normal and after break-in it won't do it.

...

What part of 3,000+ miles indicates it's not broken in?!

Do I find another dealer or do I just keep going until something snaps?
