Make sure you have no loose wires. I had a loose wire in the wiring harness and it caused erratic failsafe modes. Replaced throttle body, TPS, all that and it still happened. Ended up being a loose wire.

Lots of good info in here, like a few guys said before, you want to shift to give yourself the most hp throughout the run, can't just look at 1 gear independently.
