with the mods in my sig. what would be a good track only tire?
I'm thinking about some 295/45/17 MT ET Streets on some stock 17x9" rims.the only thing that may be a concern that I'm not sure about is that they are 28" tall.

With a 3.90 gear, and juice, I think a 28" would be a good size for you.

My recommendation would be the 325/45-17 M&H drag radials. They are 28" dia x 10.3" wide. And have been proven to hook like a mutha! Paul (psfracer) has 60' times in the 1.4x range with them.

M/T recommends a minimum wheel width of 9.5" for the 295/45R17. I'm sure they would fit on 17x9 fine though. Also, they are 27.2" dia, not 28". So if you think 28" is too much, then the M/T might be a better choice for you.

p.s., I thought the stock wheels were 17x8, not 17x9

17x9s are perfect for the M&Hs. They are not a true 325, more like a 265 or 275 (max). They are only 10.3" wide at the tread. I've been running them on the street for almost a year on 17x9s.

I run the MT 295/45/17 on 17 x 9's. I have only had 3 runs with them but they are hands down better than the Nitto 275/40/17 I had before. Sorry but I can't offer my opinion on the comparison to the M & H's.

Thanks for the reply, that's the size I was originally looking at.
Do you have any pics with them on your car?

I run the 295s on some cheap 17x9 bullitt wheels. Only had them at the track a couple of times but I like them well enough. Note I have 4.10 gears...

Wheels & tires are the same as mine. Change the car color to yellow & you now have my pic. The wheels are a 45mm offset.
