Okay so while I learn how to drive my car again this year I am already thinking of the next phase this winter.

I want MOAR cubic inches!

That said I am thinking either a 326 CID big bore with a 3.8 stroker crank or a 5.4 block with a stock stroke and 358 CID with 3.7 pistons. I think my current head work and setup will respond really well with more cubes and unshrouding the valves with the 3.7 bore. . I think a larger cam would be needed though. Maybe start with the Comp 127650 cams. Obviously the 5.4 will require a severe modification to my JPC intake, I'm good with that, it will have to have the tubes lengthened and recoated.

The thing is, as much as I can and have done with my current setup, that is the extent of my knowledge on the modular platform. So, I am asking for help from those that have experience with these other setups. Keep in mind I will stay with 20+ psi and high compression with E85. I would like to hear pros and cons ect.

L&M can machine a GT500 block to run 3V heads with a Hogan intake.

351 Cubic Inches of kick ass :)

L&M is on the short list to call.

What do you mean by , machine the block to accept 3v heads? I thought they would already bolt up.

Is that 351 with the stock GT500 bore?

What is the GT500 bore?

They have to machine so cooling matches up, if I remember right. This was sleeving a 5.3. With the boost you are looking at, I don't think they would use a plasma lined new 5.8 block.

Why not use a 13-14 GT500 block? It's all ready to go with the right bore and stroke.

Like I mentioned, I am out of my realm , what is the bore and stroke on that block ?

You have to spoon feed me like a newbie here, I know what I know from my setup and nothing more on the modular platform.

This is a thread from a 12,000 post newbie at this point and I won't deny it.

A 5.8 block is big money. Right now, getting a used aluminum 5.4 sleeved to 3.700 maybe on the same money or even less. Piston would be custom and a good set of rods and a stock crank would do.

You would need some F-150 crossover and front cover.

Headers? you can order a set of GT500 ones with 3V flanges from ARH that would be plug and play mostly.

3.681 x the standard 5.4 stroke of 4.165 = 358 cubic inches.

I haven't seen the block, only read about it. I wonder how the main caps are set up? I can tell you that my big bore block has two bolt mains with two side bolts. IMO that might be a concern with big power but then again it might not be. I don't think any have failed but then again it's not something I've really looked into. IIRC the 2003-2004 Cobra iron blocks also use this main cap arrangement and they don't seem to have any issues.

AFAIK the 4.6 3v block is the strongest block Ford has ever produced. For real big power it would make the most sense. However, you suffer from the same ailment as the rest of us so I look forward to your build, lol.

As long as you are going to do a big build like this might as well use GT500 heads and use a GT500 lower intake with a sheet metal upper for your Procharger. Does that have the gears in your head turning?

Looks like it's nice and light and has all the main cap bolts. https://performanceparts.ford.com/part/M-6010-M58A

Edit: $5000 as a new part from Tasca. http://www.tascaparts.com/ford/must...ine-cat/engine-scat/?part_name=cylinder-block

Maybe the one FRPP sells is a little cheaper?

My concern would be the thin part of the head gasket between the cylinders since they're siamesed on the Boss block . Someone on modularfords o-ringed a Boss block, but I'm not 100% sure how they went about it. That would be my concern with the high boost.

but you tune the 3v, therefore, the best block

MOAR crazy motor talk please! Flattop pistons with an exhaust valve relief would give you about 13.6:1 with stock head cc of 50.3.

Imagine that with your Procharger and E85! Imagine that n/a with E85, hmmm...

Using the FRPP "Stage 3" heads with a 48cc combustion chamber brings it to 14.21. That's right in the magic number range for e85. Being able to do it without making a chamber cast and super custom push up pistons is priceless.

A Big Bore 326 stroker is sounding better and better. Just need to see if I want to sleeve an aluminum block or get a steel big bore.
