Guys,

Had a little issue with my Runco a week or so ago.

While watching a movie I noticed a Pin-Head Red Dot to the left of the top of the screen and down maybe 4-5 inches.

At 1st I thought maybe it was an alignment sort of thing for the Runco.
Never seen it before but maybe it had mistakenly left turned on with the last service.
Well I was not to bothered by it as it was really a very small red dot and way up at the top.
So usually your eyes are more focused in the center of the screen.
Plus you could only see that red dot with certain colors on the screen like a dark background.

Well days are going by and I'm thinking is the darn red dot going to simply go away at some point ???

Nope, it does not go away and now there is a 2nd red dot to the left of the center of the screen.
Now that red dot is annoying much more so than the 1st one up at the top position.
So I wait a few days and it was obvious they were not going away.

I knew from being around a long time if I could get some pictures of those red pin-head dots it would make things really easy to trouble shoot.
So I got the new Samsung Galaxy 5 cell phone that luckily has a 16 Mega Pixel camera.
The problem was trying to figure out what to get on the screen that would show the Pin-Head RED Dots clearly.
Also to where the camera would be able to pick-up those tiny Pin-Head red dots and trust me it took a lot of time and practice to finally get the pictures below.

After successfully getting useful pictures I sent them to my A/V dealer Hi-Tech innovations.
The pictures were so good when I sent them along with the explanation as to when they appeared.
My dealer sent them straight to Runco.
Runco did their research into what was causing them, made the decision to have the Runco VX-11d picked up and shipped to them.

Hi-Tech innovations sent their tech by and picked it up the Runco to ship back.
Meanwhile since I had purchased an extended warranty Runco agreed to ship the projector back Next-Day-Air after doing the repair.
So since they were willing to do that I got with one of the owners of Hi-Tech innovations and ask if he was willing to split the cost on shipping the projector to Runco Next-Day-Air ?
He said he would do that so off it went to Runco.

Well it turns out it was the {Light Engine} in the Runco that went bad.

Runco replaced it, tested it that day after the repair, shipped back Next-Day-Air to Hi-Tech innovations.
Yesterday morning at 7:20 AM tech shows-up to reinstall unit.

He did the reinstall and went through the necessary adjustments and then we watched a Blu-ray movie for a bit to make sure all was A-OK.

I also was granted something else from Runco that really made my day.
They (Runco) signed-off on letting me extend my existing warranty on the VX-11d & DHD Controller for another 2-years.
My current extended warranty would run out July 2, 2016.
So I now have thanks to Hi-Tech innovations working with Runco two years more which takes me to July 2, 2018.

So guys this has to be one for the record books on "Excellent" service for both my local A/V dealer as well as the manufacturer Runco.

Below are the pictures I took of the Red-Pin-Head Dots.

So all is good once again and I took a few cell pics and sent to Runco's Service Manager & Hi-Tech innovations.
Runco's Service Manager wanted to see the H/T so no worries with my trusty Samsung Galaxy 5 cell phone camera.

Hey Terry, I found the next chair for your H/T room.

Hey Earl,

Man I know it had to take some extensive research to find just the right chair.

That thing is a thing of beauty and totally covers everything a H/T chair should provide in it's functions.

It's amazing the kind of service you get with a $30,000.00 projector.

Are you fucking shitting me?
That's a $30K projector?

HOLY FUCK ME RUNNING!

Terry, if you paid even close to that...it's official.....
You have lost your ever-loving GD mind.

That's a bad ass set up! I have a game room above the third garage separate from the rest of the up stairs that I want to do the same. My theatre room will will not be that high end though, I just don't have that big a wallet. Any way thumbs up!

It all depends on your priorities. That is a 3 chip DLP projector and puts out a better picture then anything else made at the time. When Terry built his H/T this was the ultimate projector available, he felt he could afford it and wanted the best. How does that mean he "lost your ever-loving GD mind"? We all give Terry a lot of shit about things but he does life his way and that's all the matters.

Answer is below all 3-post here on the projector.
In reply to your comment, [Have I lost my GD mind] ???
Nope, I want what does the best job and that projector was it back in 2011.
(And still performs just like Day-1)
You I suppose will find what I'm going to say next as probably crazy but here goes.
I intentionally left out the cost of the projector, extended warranty, Next-Day-Air shipping, because a few members seem to get the royal ass when I post what things really cost.
Like what I spend on my Mustang as another example.
But there are other members that do want to know what things cost so with the Bullitt I do in some instances post cost.
It seems your thinking a $30K state-of-the-art projector is pathetic.
(That's not including the install cost which took days to do)
That furniture you see in the pics is Norwegian .
http://www.ekornes.com/us/about-ekornes/this-is-ekornes/history
I'll pass on what it cost so you don't have a freaking Heart-Attack !!!
That being the case I'm sure you really would think from your stand point I've lost my ever loving mind when I post what that custom home theater cost.
Over $100,000.00 dollars US .............

And all of what we have is totally paid for we have zero debt !!!
[Bragging, not on your life, just stating the facts]

That's a bad ass set up! I have a game room above the third garage separate from the rest of the up stairs that I want to do the same. My theater room will will not be that high end though, I just don't have that big a wallet. Any way thumbs up!

Morris, Thank-You Sir. :patriot:

Hey buddy let me share something with you.
We do as we can and that's the majority of us.
I'm late 60's now with no children so we have what we can afford.
If we did choose to have had children and the expenses that go with that decision.
I would not have the Mustang or the Home Theater.

Just do what you can afford and be proud of what you do have.

I luv my Mustang and 2nd place for non-human things is the H/T.

The VX-11d features Runco’s Digital High-Definition (DHD) external video
processor. The Runco DHD4 offers the most advanced alignment in Runco
history, allowing for ultra-precise installation geometries, more extreme
installation scenarios, and the removal of any pin-cushion effect that can
be caused by 2.35:1 scaling, improving the CineWide technology. The
DHD4 now also supports control over HDMI CEC in addition to the
traditional IR and the expanded RS-232 connections. And for added dealer
convenience, the new web interface allows for calibration from a laptop,
smart phone, Apple iPhone, or iPad, which makes installation and set-up
even easier for the installer. In addition, the Runco DHD4 offers four HDMI
inputs and three composite video connections.

Nice setup Terry :)

Joe,

I really like watching movies of just about all kinds.
And also music on Blu-ray.
Here is a Blu-ray set of movies a buddy sent me and they are great to watch.

I have several better pics of the H/T I can post below.
They are a lot brighter than those I took to show those tiny red pin head dots above in post #1.

I also had a separate Samsung HVAC unit installed
just for the Home Theater.
It's up on the "Left" side of the wall in BLACK.
Hiller Plumbing & Heating
took it completely apart and took it to a Body-Shop
and had it all painted in a Flat-Black.
It actually comes in a BRIGHT-White finish.

Terry,
From what I've seen on here, nothing you do or no amount you spend will cause me to have a heart attack. I'd have to give a fuck, first.

Your $30K projector...
Your Norwegian furniture...
Your $100K theatre room...

At the end of the day you still put your pants on the same way I do...
One leg at a time.

At your age you should know what that comment means.
If not, oh well.

Your initial post, one particular thing you stated caused me to lose a bit of respect or you.
You stated "my new Samsung Galaxy 5...."
You bring a lot of this shit on yourself because it seems you want everyone to know what you have.
Terry?
Nobody gives a fuck if your Samsung Galaxy 5 is new or 10 years old.
Nobody cares if it takes 16 mega pixel pics...or 1.6 mega pixels.

You need to get over yourself, bro.
Remember!
You put your pants on the same way the rest of us do.

Chris,

You really need to at least make some attempt to stop reading things into what me or anyone else post.

Seriously, how in the world you and a few others on this site read the things into post I'll never understand.

You few just seem to always pick words or comments apart and completely change what I say.

I'm not even going to attempt to explain further as it IMO would be a total waste of my time.

In fact this post I'm quiet sure falls into the same reasoning, a waste of time.

I'll finish by simply saying to you and the rest of the negative thinking members on S-197 I actually do feel sorry for you guys.

That's a heck of a life to constantly think the way you do about another person you don't even know.

I'm thankful that I don't and hope I never-ever think like the few of you do on this internet site.

I don't understand the angst in the above post. How is the OP any different than some post where a guy says check out my new wheels or my new cabin?

Everyone likes to show the shit they have. As mentioned who gives a shit if it's 10 bucks or 100k. If it nice why not just say it's nice? No one tells a guy who just put ccw's on his ride how he puts his pants on just because he rolls on stock rims.

Maybe there is more to it or maybe haters are gonna hate? I'm not suggesting envy just wondering what's wrong with someone spending a boat load of money on something they enjoy and showing it, everyone does that. The only difference I see here is the dollar amount and if that doesn't matter why not just say that's cool like you might if it was new rims?

Chris,

I'm going to be serious in responding to you.
I'll take the time to reply to one of your comments to me.
1st off you think I was bragging because I said I took some of the pics with my (New Galaxy 5) cell phone.
I mentioned that because I just got it and it has a great camera feature built in.
My older cell went bad and had to get it replaced.
My Sony camera is in Pierceton, IN.
It was and still is nothing but a comment on how I took some of those pics.
No bragging Chris or any other crazy thing meant by the comment with using the Galaxy.
I said, New Galaxy 5 simply because it happens to be new to me.

Now, I just took the time to actually explain to you why the comment on the Galaxy 5.
This is what else I have to say to you and the rest of the always Nit-Picking things apart.
Man stop doing that crap it is just not necessary at all.
What the heck do you and the rest that keep on doing that hope to accomplish.
Your not going to change anything in my life.
It's not going to do anything positive for you that I can think of.
If your doing it to be part of the Bully In-Crowd here on S-197 then maybe you figure that's a plus.
I did this time respond to you multiple times and have even this time further explained one commend you did not like.
I'm not going to continue to do that so if you persist to post like you have been to me I'll ignore your posts.
So you will simply end up posting silly remarks to I suppose your buddies because if you believe me or even care the rest of us are not going to pay attention to you.

I have something else to say to you.
Do you really not realize you could meet a lot of really nice Stand-Up-People if you stopped with the negative wise-cracks.
Seriously, don't you want to be viewed by people differently than you are coming across in your post.
I have made some really good friends as the years have passed with guys I have talked with on the internet.
And that is all age groups.
And please man stop with this on going crap over who has more monies and who does not.
I'm an older guy and been married for over 30-yrs. to a professional lady.
We have worked for probably longer than you have been on this earth.
Don't you think if we can afford to have nice things we should after all the yrs. both of us have worked.
You don't post your age so I'm thinking maybe you are a younger fellow.
It makes no difference to me if you are or not you will get the same exact respect from me no matter your age.

So, what do you say can we not just talk about things on this site from now on without any negative comments.

You know your not going to get any from me so maybe you could also give it a try.
