after a long meeting and a couple fist fights that were solved by beer, we figured the best way for you to read your spark plugs.

Hell, this whole #8 crap did not start until the weather started turning warm. If that doesn't tell you something, i don't know what does. Come september/october we won't hear nothing about this until april. I bet you.

I think there are more engines damaged than we have heard about on the forums. Possibly more to come from people who are putting more miles and beating on the cars. As time goes on the tuners are learning what to do and not to do so hopefully the number will decrease, and people who haven't had problems can keep getting updated tunes.

I'm hoping that they start dumping a little more fuel in #8 to keep it cool.

all this reading the plugs is all well and good to see if number 8 is trashed like the OP's but you guys do understand your not getting an accuate reading on the plug for how the car is really running at WOT right? you know why we tow the race car back after every pass? no its not becuase its out of gas. its because once off the gas the plugs are worthless to us to tune off of.

unless yout running 100% WOT then shut it down your not going to learn much off the plugs

Derek these cars are street cars not race cars. Do you think a set of plugs with say 10,000 street driven miles will actually change color by doing one WOT pass telling us how our car is performing at WOT?

After you have that many miles on them I don't think a WOT pass would tell you very much. If it were mine I would put a new set of plugs in and then go WOT and check them.

From what I have found it seems to be detonation related.

Not to Mention if your Pulling Plugs, like I did Last night (they were Perfect, after 10k and my Lund Tune), I'l KICKING Myself for not putting a NEW set in!! I'm sure that after 10k miles I'd pick up almost a Full tenth with new plugs...

you'll be much better off on a set of new plugs thats for sure... and it depends on the condition of the plugs before... if they are all crusted up no you wont learn much of anything off of them. if they are a good clean plug it will show whats going on for the most part.

2 things to remember from this

plugs and tunes are cheap

motors are not

I removed my number 8 piston altogether so I wouldn't have any issues. Sure, the connecting rod banging against the cylinder walls is noisy as heck, but it's a small price to pay for piece of mind.
