A custom dyno tune will always be better than a canned tune, assuming the tuner is competent. Always has been that way, always will. Congrats on finally upgrading to a custom dyno tune.
Bamas the blue graph.... I was throwing the stupid egr valve code with bama... Not anymore... Sae? Is that the correction numbers... If so blue graph 1.07 red graph 1.04
SAE is the correction for weather, temps, ect. Your current graphs are STD, see in the top right corner? SAE would just give you a more accurate comparison.
Regardless, I think there is something wrong with that e-mail tune. As noted above, why is there that sudden dip at 3K RPM? Why was it throwing an EGR valve code (assuming the EGR isn't actually fucked to begin with)? Personally I think the Bama tune wasn't right to begin with and might make it a bit unfair I guess you could say. I would like to see a good e-mail tune vs a dyno tune and see the difference in #'s.
You definitely can't make a blanket statement that all Dyno tunes are better than canned tunes and I'm proof of it. My last dyno tune ran like dog shit drivability wise compared to my BBR E-mail tune. Sure my traps and times didn't improve with the E-mail tune, but at least I could drive the damn thing without it feel like I was pullin a trailer in 5th on the highway.
Chris rose personally wrote me the 93race tune shown in the graph... Went through probly 10 dif tune revisions and multiple datalogging sessions... And there is no egr valve on these cars... I'm not sure what the sae is I can post the humidity and all that... The time between the blue graph and red graph was about two hours apart
hmmm... I also have a Bama tune. Was considering just datalogging, but maybe i should take it to the dyno for an A/F reading... was this an entire dyno session?
I agree there was something wrong with the Bama tune you had.
But I went for dyno tuning after getting my Bama tune and it was perfect, so I still have the Bama tune.
IMO mail orders are hit and miss but should always be tested on the dyno.
Do you have CMDPs?? Couldn't that cause the dip if it was or wasn't tuned for that? Or maybe they were staying closed? Mine did that and I believe that's what fixed it was some CMDPs
