Well, I noticed my coolant has gotten low a few times in the past month.

So, yesterday I filled the coolant just shy of max level. I made sure to mix it correctly with distiller water and coolant.

I had a weird urge to check again today after my engine cooled down, and sure enough, the coolant level was below the minimum level by a good inch.

There are no spots on my garage floor and no moisture around the connection of the tank.

Any ideas as to why my car is burning through coolant so quickly?

I drove the car about 35 mikes today, It was in the 50's all day.

It's an 05 GT non intercooled vortech pushing 8psi.

Thanks for the help.

Are you filling when the car is totally cold?

Have you drained a lot of coolant recently?

Check your oil

The car was pretty cool, not even really warm at all.

I just changed the oil a bit over 1,200-1,500 miles ago.
Between the upper and lower dot on the dipstick, the level reads past the area with the markings toward the upper dot. I'd say 3/4 full and i used 6 quarts.

I also added coolant to my g/f's 07 vortech blown GT the same day, except her car
Was still pretty warm. We checked the level on her car, and it has not dropped at all. I also just changed her oil a few days ago.

If you are losing an inch that quickly you should be able to smell it in the exhaust... it will smell sweet. Also, as others have mentioned check your oil, if it is at all coffee colored or foamy... that is REALLY bad.

You could also try burping the system, you may just have air trapped somewhere.

Thats not always true. I've seen condensation make the back of the oil cap all milky like coolant in the oil.

Thanks for the responses guys.

I haven't noticed any white smoke as of yet. I checked the level this morning and it was a bit less than the maximum line. Maybe 3/4 of the way up between the min/max lines.

My G/F went out a couple of minutes before me, and she said she heard a dripping noise coming from my coolant tank.

So, I believe there is a leak. I am going to take the car to Ford, as I was not able to find a leak of any kind. No drips on the ground.

I'll see what they say.

Thank you again for the responses guys.

Get yourself a pressure tester for the cooling system. You will find the leak if that's what it is. Rent one at autozone or something. That's all the dealer is going to do.
