sorry to hear that same thing happened to me at atco nmra . after the whole teardown all it was was was a broken oil pump piston and rods were perfect after atleast 100 hard passes and 20 of them being in the 9's. now have a fully built l&m engine. its kind of bitter sweet.

Thanks man. Sucks it blew up before Jon ever got to drive it lol. The back half on this pass was like 3.53 which would be good for a 9.8. So between your car and this one looks like that's dangerous territory for the stock engine. Which I don't think anyone can complain about

Oh than the obvious(boost, hp, etc) do you think it went due to rpms....were you bouncing off the limiter? Just curious for my own sake...lol. Also do you guys already have the built short block, and how quick are you guys gonna get it in.

Hey Ken, do you think the Boss engine would be able to handle more with the forged internals and high rpms?

My guess is it went from banging the limiter hard on the 1-2 shift AND that being at a high RPM (7,800). I really shouldn't have had it that high. I've nailed the limiter TONS of time on Joe's procharged 5.0 with no issue. But his limiter was lower. I just think we got a little unlucky in this case.

No, the engine isn't done but I'm sure Michael will knock it out ASAP for us and we plan on making NMRA Bradenton which is first weekend in March. I'd like to have it running in about 5-6 weeks. We will do the fuel system at the same time and convert to E85. It's about to get serious. ;)

It should but in this case it wasn't a rod or piston failure. It went early in the pass is my guess and still went 139 with no obvious issue. But I noticed the stock oil pressure gauge at zero and shut it off and coasted to the end of the track. Started it up for a second and sounded fine but the pressure was zero.

So I'm not sure what oil pump is in the Boss but my guess is it's the same material as the GT. So something we should look into and if that is the case a swap to billet gears might be some good insurance.

Car is staying here. Engine should be on it's way up north today. We need the car here to continue develop and get things rolling for production of the kit.

This actually has moved up development by over a month so really it's a good thing. We know we have a killer setup here and with the car running we would have just kept running it and running it because we were having so much fun. Now we are forced to take it apart so we can get back to business lol

139....lol

I can't wait to see what this thing does.

You probably could have just replaced the oil pump and gone mid 9's!

Too much work just to worry about the rest of the engine. We will have it running in time for Bradenton and see what kind of hurting we can put on in True Street.
