Just an FYI, I had BG Syncro Shift II in my trans when it was replaced due to heavy trans whine. They had the entire trans apart as part of the diagnosis and found the bearings which were the cause of the noise. I got a new trans with no trouble from the warranty department.

The fluid that came out of the trans went into a bucket to be disposed along with all of the other used oils from the cars they were working on.

I think one can be purchased (not installed) for a bit less than $3k.

Not too bad if it performs the way we need it to. Does anyone make a sfi bell for a windsor engine for it? Does anyone know how well they powershift over 7K?

Sorry for taking this off topic.

Did you take it in with all the mods listed in your sig? I'm concerned about that as well, especially the tune and off-road x.

Yup, when you figure that the people who would need it are probably spending 6-10K on other mods. Whoever makes them readily available stands to make a killing IMO.

All mods in my sig remained. I have stock cats in place however. I simply called my selling dealership and talked to them about mods. As I've had this discussion on AFM about 3 billion times(everyone over there fears their warranty) the dealer told me as long as the mods did not cause any problems the repair is still covered.

I might drive to Virginia for that kind of service. My delaership refused to balance my wheels/tires (a week after I bought it) since I said the vibration was most noticeable when I turned off Advancetrak. I tried to explain to them that the EPAS system has active nibble control which masks vibration from wheels/tires that are out-of-balance but they refused and stated that the car is not covered under warranty while driven with advancetrak off. I could only imagine what they would say if I took it in with these mods lol. Anyways, sorry to get off topic... It's just why I'm so nervous about these MT82 issues.

Your dealership sounds like a bunch of pricks like my local dealer.

Yeah ... they suck. There are a couple others but they're marginally better. I'm going to run the MTG anyways. I don't think I have much to lose at this point and it doesn't seem like it's something that Ford is looking into very deeply based on what you all have recently reported.

Today is payday so it's time to sign up for the AMSOIL preferred program and order some MTG, 5w30 motor oil, an Ea filter, and maybe a couple oil analysis kits :)

well I never had the notchiness that a lot complain about. It wasn't as butter smooth as I'd liked, thats my main reason for switching. I didn't warm the car prior to draining, I let it drain for about 3 hours cold. I then installed the mtg and started the car, let it idle for a few minutes like normal and took off. Initially it felt the same. After running around this afternoon I've put almost 100 miles on it. Now its butter smooth and wot shifting takes fingers, it glides into place. I'm extremely happy. My thoughts of the first fluid are not good. I let it drain over a magnet, no metal but the oil felt gritty. Even cold the fluid flowed like water, i was expecting an oil like a air tool oil to come out. I was surprised it seemed thinner than that. I am glad I made the switch

While no doubt the Magnum would be a great performance increase for the big-power guys, I really like the gear ratios of the MT-82 for the naturally aspirated 5.0. The closest ratio'd T-56 I've seen was on the Steeda website.

http://www.steeda.com/store/tremec-t56-transmission-for-ford-mustang.html

Ratios......MT-82..........Magnum..........T-56
1st..........3.66.............2.97/2.66........2.97
2nd.........2.43.............2.07/1.78........2.07
3rd..........1.69.............1.43/1.30........1.43
4th.........1.32..............1.00...............1.00
5th.........1.00..............0.74/0.80........0.80
6th.........0.65..............0.50/0.62........0.62

For the Magnum with the 2.97 1st, you have to get the wide ratio overdrive which I don't like. The T-56 looks a lot better, but has a 450ft-lb rating compared to the 700 ft-lb rating of the Magnum.

I'm not a "gearing expert" but with those kinds of ratios, I assume you'd be better running a 4.10:1 rear-end again like with the 05-10 5-speed?

Very interesting ... I tinkered around a bit and even 4.30s might be a good choice.
