I'm about to install my 4.10 gears and I'm wondering, to correct the speedo do I need to have my tuner (BamaChips) do that? Or can I do it manually with my XCal III?

Depends on whether or not he locked the tune. I'd just have him send me a revised tune if it was me.

Where are you getting the gears done? These guys are the very best in San Diego... period. Tell Steve Zimmerman (the owner) you heard about them from me.

I thought about SD gear and Axle, might also go to woodside automotive. Could you PM me what you paid for your gear install from these guys? I'm just wondering if it's worth a phone call. I have the gears and the install kit, I just need the labor.

I honsetly don't remember what I paid... I also had them replace the gears at the same time. I do recall that it was a little more than I paid at JBA back in 2005, but the install was a helluva lot better. I didn't know how quiet gears could be until SD Gear and Axle did it.

There is no price too steep to have them done right the first time. Noisy gears are one of those things that will make you not want to drive your car you hate it so much.

And it can also cause them to wear out prematurely (as did my first set).
