You know what's funny, is I was told the same thing about lund and evolution but when I asked fred he told me it was untrue...who knows.

Hey Chris when and where did u run the 9.60? Congrats btw

The day after i got back from bowling green ky i went to atco to see if i could back up that 9.70 i ran. that was all done in street trim weighing in at over 4050 lbs. getting it ready for florida for the season opener. finally get to run it on the race tune and about 300lbs lighter and the circle-d converter as all the previous runs were with the stock converter with 1.7 60' so new times should be interesting!!

Yea I noticed that too. So evo is with Lund? I'm leaning towards them cause of price and their track record.

What do u guys feel about installing used gears? Also, is 3.73 too much?

You do have other options for tuning too. Rick@Amazon has been tuning for many years. There are only a few tuners who have been tuning longer than he has. He knows these S197s inside and out.

I will even have him call you on our dime if you want to Pm me your #.

It all comes down to credentials at the end of the day. Ask yourself (or the tuner)

What have you accomplished on my platform? If you have a 5.0, what have they done with the 5.0? Same with any other combo. Results are what you want. See who gets the results.

And I'm not talking about dyno numbers.

agreed, don't pay a tuner to learn on your car. customers purchase finished products, not give tuners paid experience. this is why shops have shop cars or sponsored cars.

agreed. i think im gonna narrow it down to Amazon and Lund. both seem to have stellar support and lund's track record speaks for itself. Now one last thing holding me back.. Should I invest in LT's? i have a 5.0 and currently have an ORX already. Will the gains be worht it? Or what else should I get? I wanna get all my na mods before I switch my tune

Long tube headers are probably worth 20-25 more horsepower on top of your off road X. They are not cheap but probably worth the cost.

I think that estimate for the long tubes is high.

Here are some credentials to consider:

Street Car:
Chris Cruz 9.7s Go to 6:34

Drag Car:
Evo - First in the 8's

Road Race:
First Supersnake 200+ MPH in the standing mile

This whole list is MUCH longer.

I'd go more with 10-15hp coming from seeing some real dyno before and afters.

Awesome. I googled Lund tuning and got lethal. I guess I didn't check all the way through. That is the route I will go through then. Now, on to the gear question, the reason I ask about that is because when I do contact him I want to have my NA setup complete. Is 3.73 too much gear on an auto with a 3600 stall? I already have the converter. And my eventual plans are to slap a Paxton on so I do not want to spend money twice.

You don't want the 3.73 gears. Since going with a paxton later. Go with a 3.55 at most.

Samsung Galaxy 2-better then your iPhone..

That's what I figured.. So I'll scratch off buying some 3.73's from a buddy. Now it's just the LT dilemma. I'm leaning towards them and the 3.55's and that will be pretty much it. After that I will start building the suspension. Now another rear question, should I replace the stock axles? I was thinking about going with 3.55's, a tru trak, and moser axles with a girdle.

Every one has a different criteria for their vehicles.
Best advice I can give you is to talk to any tuner you are considering one on one. That will give YOU a better idea if he will be the right fit for you.

Rick@Amazon tuned the only stock motor 5.0 GT invited to the 2011 KOTS competition. He has expereince with anything from mild to wild and what we offer is an extremely personalized tuning experience with our custom tuning service. It includes unlimited free support and revisions no matter what you add to your set up.WE don't charge more for FI tuning. The custom tuning service is $185 no matter what your set up is.

If you want to see what we are up to around the shop go to our Facebook page. We have videos of what we dyno tune and other info.

It doesn't matter how good a tuner is or what he has accomplished if he is not easily accessible to you when you need him.

I would be more concerned about a tuner's record for longevity of motors than anything else.

We have SSW LTs on our 2011 GT. I don't think you will regret getting LTs.

The only complaint I've ever heard about Jon Lund is accessibility and communication. That is because he is very high demand. I heard a rumor that Jon has hired someone with a resume that matches his own, is building a full service website and phones will be answered throughout the day.

But might just be a rumor. ;)
