KB 2.6 intercooler in & out ?

hi guys .

I've 2.6 stage 2 intercooler kit my buddy removed the 2 fittings which placed on the back of the intake manifold "for intercooler in & out " I notes when I was installing them that they have different inner diameter , one is little bit bigger than the other one , so which on for "water" in and which one for out ?

I never took mine out but I thought they were the same size...If they are different size, they should only screw in 1 way, correct?

of course but I'm talking about inner DIA size , of course there're must be some reason for that and I don't want to install it wrong

They should be the same size inside diameter.
The fitting closest to the passenger side is in, driver side out, as stated.

How's the fittings plumbed to the i/c internally? Do they both go in from the same vertical location in relation to the i/c fins/tubing? If so, either way is indeed fine. If one side connects at the bottom and one at the top, gravity will affect flow...like pumping into your radiator at the bottom and out at the top...not that extreme and maybe completely insignificant. Would just seem to be common sense.
But, with bot fittings out the back at the same height, you cant tell
I just followed the installation instructions when I connected mine....or did I?

Want to throw this out there. The lower intake mainfold will flow water no mater which side is in or out you go from on the intercooler. The instruction may say from the passanger side and out the driver. But it makes no difference.

they located horizontally , the instruction shows the direction which's passenger side IN & driver side OUT no doubt about it , but I'm confusing if the IN side must have the smaller fitting or the bigger ? same confusion with OUT side small or big ? I thought there's reason for that "small and big inner DIA (which have very small different) " but I couldn't figure it out

Also, both ports are the same height about 3-4" apart IIRC

I run my into the drivers side and out the passenger side and makes no difference. So with that said if one side is smaller than the other like you are stating then I have my backwards, yeah? I made a ton of horsepower with my and no issues with keeping it cool within reason of 31lbs of boost. Size or side makes no difference really if you have water flowing to keep it cool. Slightly smaller fitting on either side makes no rifference, just tring to help you out here.

Well, a smaller inner-diameter could be a restriction point.
Although, the ports and fittings are not very big as they are, so even a slightly smaller diameter may not be the biggest point of resistance.

Do a search on the KB cooling issues thread, where there was lengthy discussion about keeping fluid paths smooth and properly sized to optimize fluid flow.

Just my 2 cents.

I searched and I couldn't find anything however, I called KB today they told me run the smaller one into the passenger side and when I said "OUTLET" he said yes (I know I did a mistake) cuz actually you know passenger side is the "INLET" lool and I sent email about my confusion and they said (They should both have the same size opening and are interchangeable) and after what happen when I called I reply to them so they said (That’s fine but it doesn’t matter which one goes where they are supposed to be the same size. It will not affect the function in anyway either one you choose to be the inlet and outlet.)

so I'll run the smaller one on the passenger side which is the inner (to pressurized the inlet water which I think the different will not make any thing cuz it's barely notes) I know that I'm making a big deal out of nothing but what do you think guys ??

You could go and get another fitting that matches the larger opening of your other one.
But with the small side of the threaded opening, it wont really matter, since the inside of the npt threaded section will be the smallest diameter, even if the outer hose is 5/8" or so 3/4". So in that regard, it indeed doesn't matter.

the one I have has the same i.d on both fittings so I dont think it matters
