I've read enough on here to know that you can't recoup your $ on mods. In my instance, the car I have for sale has only aesthetic mods, no performance mods, unless you consider the axle-backs a performance mod. The car is priced below NADA, KBB, yada yada, but it still isn't generating any serious interest. Below is how my ad reads. Do you think my mods are hurting me?

"2009 Mustang GT Premium California Special. #1381 of 1705 California Special coupes built this year. 300HP 4.6L 3V V-8 with 5-speed manual transmission. Performance White (#293 of 377 of this color). Dark charcoal/med parchment interior. Heated seats. Shaker 1000 stereo with Sirius satellite radio. MyColor with ambient lighting. OEM HID headlights. ABS with traction control. Driver, passenger and side-impact airbags. Tinted windows. Upgrades: Bullitt shift knob/boot. Ford Racing GTA axle-back exhaust. K&N drop-in filter. Silver Horse Racing rear honeycomb and lower grille insert. Pony intake cover with matching Silver Horse Racing throttle body cover, fuel rail covers, fuse box cover. Sequential tail lights. GT-500 pedals. Car cover. All stock parts retained. Mobil 1 oil changes. Excellent condition, garage kept, non-smoker. Very clean and well-maintained. No performance modifications made (no tunes, nitrous, etc.). Clean CARFAX. Ford Extended Service Plan/Warranty INCLUDED (good to Sep 2014 or 75,000 miles, whichever comes first)."

Any advice for tweaking the ad? Do yo guys think I should remove all the mods?
Thanks for your input.

Could be, but my price is already well below KBB and NADA. Also, using the Autotrader pricing tools/comparisons, it's 2k below Autotrader average, and 3K below dealer averages.

How long have you had it listed? If you don't want to go any lower on the price, then you will need to be patient and run it longer. If you need to sell it right away, well, that's when people get great deals.

I heard something a while ago that sports cars have a stronger market in warmer months...however since I live in California and you live in Florida I really don't think this is the case. How urgently do you need to sell?

I'd like to have it sold by June, so I still have some time. I was concerned regarding the limited interest.

Maybe I missed it but I don't see the mileage listed in your ad.

Most of those mods are minor enough that you don't need to list them. Sometimes less is more. Try running the ad without mentioning any appearance mods you've done. If someone asks, tell them.

This sounds like a good idea. I think I might try this on the Autotrader ad. Thanks.

It's winter man.. a lot of people don't buy cars like this in the winter because they can't drive it.. its like buying a motorcycle in winter... It took me 3 months to sell my 2003 that had 32k in mods for 17k man and that's not including what I paid for the car.. be patient

And if you want to look at a ballpark, look for the car on ebay and see what others are going for.
Caution: may cause depression.
Glad I'm never selling my car :)

I would guess 15 to17K if you have under 17K miles on it, and it better be perfect. With the 5.0 out it's hard to get any money for these cars. Depending on what you buy the dealer would only give you 13 or 14K, maybe more if you steped up to something expensive. GLWS
