I'm having issues with my 3650. The car has 25K miles on it and I've been drag racing it on Friday nights for about 6 months, maybe 75 passes. I drive fairly aggressively on the street but never have an issue there, only when shifting into 3rd at more than 6000 rpm. It started about 4-6 weeks ago and now I can't race it at all.

I've done quite a bit to the car and each mod has helped but this third gear thing is like hitting a wall. I have an MGW shifter, Syncromesh fluid, BMR K member with the prothane motor mounts, DSS driveshaft, etc. Last week I changed the plastic clutch hydraulic line for the Ford Racing stainless steel line and replaced the fluid with synthetic DOT3+4 fluid. At this point I think it's something inside the transmission because I think I've eliminated everything else.

While installing the driveshaft the other day I double checked all the shifter linkage. Everything is snug with no slop anywhere. This seems to be a fairly common problem, has anyone here fixed it without installing a TR-6060?

I recommend a CHE torque limiting brace. I was having similar problems, and this brace completely cured it. Something to consider anyway.

I have the BMR K member so if I get the brace then it will need to be modified to fit. It bolts to the stock K member which I no longer have.

An interesting note, the issue started right after installing the BMR K member. You would think the stiffer motor mounts would help.

I wonder if it changed the angle/geometry just enough to throw it off, sort of like how the stock mounts would torque to the side and make it difficult to hit second gear..

I had a similar issue with my 03 gt. It turned out to be a clutch issue, even though it was the stock clutch.

This happened to my 05 when I hit about 20k miles same problem or a 3rd gear lock out at high rpm. I fixed it by changing the positioning of the shifter arm adjusting the shifter a little and adjusting the tranny mount. It was all very slight movements but once I had done all that I haven't had a problem since and I'm at 29k now. I think it may just be vibration from the way we drive the car causing the alignment of the shifter to be chaned a little so by resetting everything and torquing it all down again it helps. I also try not to really smash 3rd as hard anymore to prevent it from happening again.

For me.....Che K-Member Brace with Torque Limitors

This is the solution. Been covered many times. IDK if anyone added the CHE brace w/ a BMR K member, but I bet it's been done.

My .02 start with the mounts and see if that fixes the shifting issue.

Start what with the mounts? They came with the K member so there's not much I can do with them unless I remove the K member and put my stock one back on. I've looked into the CHE brace but it would require some custom modification to make it bolt up. The stiffer motor mounts were supposed to reduce the tendancy of the motor to torque, but my issue never existed until after I installed the new K and mounts.

My 2008 Bullitt does it all the time to me! I'm on my second Trany now and still the same thing. I think I have to go with a brace too.

So a new transmission didn't resolve the issue? In a way that's encouraging since I was considering having my buddy at Cottman Transmission open it up and go through it. Looks like modifying a CHE brace to fit will be my next step.

The CHE brace uses a bolt on the rear control arm mount, 1 each side. That should be good enough for the torque brace function

I think it's in the tune!

Lol

My 3650 was always having issues going into second gear. 6060 fixed that. But every time I have read about this.... The CHE braces were always the fix about 75% of the time. I think you should get the CHE brace and modify as needed....I don't think it would take much if any at all. I still have the brackets from when I bought a set right before I ditched the 3650.

Also take a look at the tranny mount, make sure it's good and tight!

Ive had the same issue with mine since the first day i got my car. It completely refuses to go into second gear at high RPMs and the dealership simply refused to acknowledge that the problem existed, i gave up and accepted that i would need a new transmission.

But I think this may fix my issue.

Can anyone help me with me a link? This one (CLICK HERE) is the only part i could find by that name but it had a note that says:

NOTE: These engine torque limiters are designed to work exclusively with the CHE Performance Products 4-Point K-member brace for the 2005-Current Ford Mustang and will not work with other brands of K-member braces or without the use of the CHE K-Member Brace.

I need something that will work with the stock k-member because i only want to get rid of the lock out

Seems like I hardly ever read about this with a car that has the stock shifter, k-member, and motor mounts. It's only once someone adds a short throw or mounts that they start having problems.

My stock setup sucked. I could never hit 3rd. After I did the motor mounts, pro 5.0 shifter, and che I never had an issue.
