Hey guys, I just insured our silver car with a car collector company to protect all the money we dumped into it. I think a lot of you guys might benefit from doing that as well.

I had them value the car at 40k and there are some rules that I have to follow to be insured but there are different coverages. The one we picked allows us to drive the car anywhere anytime we want but less then 7500 miles a year. The mileage can be adjusted if needed. When at home the car has to be store in a locked secure garage. All in all I'm very happy with the extra coverage and it's only costing us 1k a year. I know some of you guys put more into your cars and they should be protected too.

I'm using American Collectors... I'll dig up the number when I get home.

Hagerty Insurance is also very good. We had our 1977 Trans Am valued at 25k and the cost was $298.00 a year with the same restrictions the OP has.

I may have to call them, but some places don't cover late model cars as collectors.

Heacock insurance on my 03 Mach 1 here. Insured for $30k plus $1k for parts sitting around, cost me $371 a year. Mileage is restricted to 1000 miles a year but by choice, I may put a 1000 miles in a few years lol.

I had my 2007 SGT insured for $65,000 with Hagerty's ....son totaled it and they wrote me a check for the total amount, I than bought the wreck for $3,500

Was paying $1,500 a year and need to have another insured car for each licensed driver in the house

Current 2007 SGT (I have the title) is insured liability only through Allstate...need to wait one more year and than back to Hagerty's (self insured)

great company to deal with.

Pretty sweet, I had no idea you could do that with a late model.

I am with Farmers and put a rider on. Had to provide receipt's and pictures. I can add up to $50,000 over vehicle value.

I have Hagerty, $400 per year for full coverage which is CHEAP in NY. No set restrictions, I did have to show proof of my DD though.

You just need some pics, I had all the receipts so I gave them everything to document.

Hagerty, insured for $45k cost 1k a year. Need proof of DD. I don't have a garage but I do have a car port and it is gated. For those without a garage this may be a good alternative.

I have USAA, they were great. They covered my aftermarket stereo and both gauge pods and gauges with out my providing receipts. They were very understanding when I let them know that both my lock boxes with all my receipts in them were stolen as well.
