This whole thing is really unfortunate, especially with how much money these tuners charge, well at least now you can build it up and make it even better

Only question I have is, why were there quarter mile passes being made when you clearly stated there were problems with the tune as soon as you go it back?

The car threw a CEL and surged on my way home so I got a revision, did not beat on the car no WOT pulls didn't go to the track. That revision went into limp mode as soon as the car made 1psi at part throttle (when I was checking to see if the surge was gone), again no track no WOT pulls. The next tune ran ok on the street, so I took it to the track but it did the fall on its face thing when I tried to launch. The last tune was the one that was a mix of KB's tune and Jeff's tune because he couldn't get it right.

To be fair you are correct, the tune that fell on its face at the track still did the part throttle surge thing, that didn't go away until Jeff copied half of Kenne Bell's tune. But I don't go part throttle at the track and made it a point to stay in vacuum on the street so that it wouldn't surge as I didn't know if it was bad for the motor or what (I still don't know why it did it). I was in CONSTANT communication with Jeff, I updated him about everything...way more than he emailed me back. He knew before and after I did anything with the car as far as pulls or racing or anything. I even updated him when I made pulls against my friends for comparison.

So if it looks like he dyno'd my car then I quit talking to him and beat the balls of it until it broke thats not the case. Jeff was WAY in the loop with everything, I NEVER did anything he didn't ask me to to do, or know I was going to do. Like I said, I trusted him. Look where that fucking got me...

Jeff asked me to data log a 1/4 mile pass or something just like one. I took the car out to do the data log and when I slowed down a huge cloud of white smoke rolled past me. I babied the car home and called him saying I think my engine is hurt, I might have a cracked piston my car smokes white under decel. Jeff said it was probably sucking oil through the PCV lots of coyotes do it. He mentioned the GT500 PCV valve was a good upgrade to restrict it. He said if my dipstick looked good, and my catch can looked good to just go data log it. They both did, I went and bought the PCV valve and while I was logging it my #4 rod went through the side of my block. CRAZY amounts of white smoke and oil all over everything.

Exactly. Like I said I updated him with everything and asked TONS of questions. I wasn't out there on my own fucking off and hammering the car.

Before the arguing gets out of hand, lets get back to some pictures that are sure to make everyone sick. I think I would rather watch the human centipede...

This one really doesn't need a caption

Yes some of these have been instagram'd

Really not as terrifying as I thought it would look behind the timing cover

This really is a sick ass picture for a phone. This is sticking my iphone down in the bore and taking a picture of where the rod beat the cylinder wall. In the background you can see the huge hole in the block.

Whatever foul tune caused this failure will also kill a Boss block in short time, so make sure you get a flawless tune before taking it to the track once you get it back together.

I agree, a bad tune can break any motor built or stock.

I'm going where I should have gone in the first place.

DAMN.. Your story brought back memories of my bad tuning exp with adam at ST motorsports and CDT in Hayward.. I drove 7 hours left the car there for 2 weeks.. he told me what a beast it was.. drove 7 hours to to pick it up and boom.. fail safe out the driveway! After re-tuing and another 2 fail safes he got it to run.. but of course it was gutless.. So I dove home with the bitter taste of being fucked.

To make a mistake is one thing.. but I cant figure out how the hell any tuner can flat out lie like and do shitty work that when they know the cust will pick up the car?

Since everything is fresh and you have records I would take his ass to small claims and get some or most of the money to get a new engine.

I found out when calling around for attorneys that the amount of money I am out exceedes the limit for small claims court... They said I would have to go to Municipal court and that while it is faster usually than small claims its more work for the lawyer and I would need expert witnesses and blah blah fuckity fuck fuck

I think you can still sue for the limit of small claims. So if you're out $7k, but the small claims limit is $5k, sue for $5k. Not as good as getting $7k, but a lot better than getting $0.

I've been given the impression small claims is a waste of time because it is difficult to collect. Not sure if true or not.

But then you can publically take ads out in papers asking the tuner to collect. You can publish documents or even a website to redirect their new customers to, showing them of the factual information that went down in your experience, if a judge rules in your favor.

Oh I didn't realize I could just "max out" small claims, I figured they meant since the total amount was more than (I think they said 3 or 4 thousand) then I couldn't use it. Thanks for the advice. For the sake of productivity we should probably keep this thread on the topic of my rebuild. I think the point of watch who you have tune your car has been well made. You literally cannot be too careful, and even when you are sometimes bad things just happen.
