Thanks guys! It was scary at first but it was a good feelin to hear it run and rev up like its supposed to.

I actually already had the first idle log reviewed and got a config file and logged more idle and a short drive.

The twin disc has some chatter but I thought I remember reading those do that until they break in? Anybody ever run one?

I think the over the axle pipes are hitting something and rattling. Other than that and all the smoke it seems to be pretty good! Still no leaks or anything!

Your idling and cold run will smooth out a bit after the adaptive learning gets to know it a bit too. My vortech install was kind of that way to. It is smooth as silk right now Oh yeah CONGRATS man glad to see it all working out for you

Every single time I've done a rebuild on a car that blew a motor, it took about 20 miles of driving to burn all the oil out of the exhaust and also, the smoke a newly built engine produces while seating the rings.

One vehicle I rebuilt the engine in, a 2002 Chevy truck 350, had cats on it and after I started it up, it REALLY smoked badly as the cats had oil all in them and the computer wanted to add more fuel to get them to heat up. Then when they did get hot, the computer added less fuel and the cats kept getting hotter as the oil burned off. I turned the truck off at that point and smoke kept coming out for about five minutes.

I do remember the car idling like shit at first with the KB tune then it cleaned up pretty fast. Also I had my battery disconnected for 2 months so if that adaptive shit can get cleared it probably is. I think it may get a little better each time I start it, but I've only fired it up about 4 times.

Which clutch is it?

McLeod RST with McLeod billet steel flywheel. Shudders pretty bad when I let it out in first gear. I stalled it a couple times pulling it in my garage (slightly uphill). I dunno if it was because of the clutch shaking and I couldn't let it out right, or the start up tune, or if I have to change my driving style. It was a bitch to go uphill and just wanted to stall.

Yeah I started it sunday just to let it come up to temp idling and get another heat cycle on it and add some more coolant. It didn't smoke at all, but it was just idling. I think that means at least some of the oil is burned out. I hope after some driving this week its all gone.

I upgraded some things along the way, just off the top of my head I'd say 7,000ish.

Not yet, I will probably video the dyno pulls and some track runs.

I'm still nervous I put the cams in wrong or its just gonna fly apart at any moment. I just changed so many things that its not at all the same and freaks me out. I have to double check my over the axle pipes I think they are hitting. The clutch shudder and smoke should go away on their own. The rough idle at stone cold start throws a couple weird codes. I'm gonna wait for the adaptive learning to get some data and for a good review of the data logs with possibly an updated "startup tune" and hopefully get some miles on it this week. Felt damn good just going around the block lol.

Odd. I'm running a McLeod RXT, and it doesn't shudder/chatter much at all. You really have to get it bound up/hot and in traffic to make it want to chatter.

I actually read that the more aggresive friction material of the RXT helps it bite better and reduces the chatter/shudder during break in. I think after some miles and some getting used to it will go away/minimize.

Pedal effort feels like a civic lol
