I would like to move the battery to the pass of the trunk on my 12 gt, but on the positive side it has some fuses which one looks to be for the electric power steering, has anyone done a batt relocation on these cars yet?

Here a couple pics

used a power post to connect all of the positives up front, grounded the front wires, then grounded the battery to the back. works great battery voltage at the back is 14.3 to 14.5 now I just need to move the coolant tank to where the old battery went.

Just one thing.

I would spend the extra money and buy a Negative wire that extends all the way to the front. Ground it where the current negative wire grounds.

Every now and then, with the large amount of electronics in modern cars, there are electrical gremlins that go away after a rear ground is replaced when the battery is relocated to the trunk.

Im not apposed to running a neg cable up front, but my past car had it this way and it worked great. But if i get any of those gremlins ill do the cable asap.

wow that looks awesome can you list the parts and where you got them very interested in this.

I will when I get home on a computer.

Any drilling necessary to run the cables and mounting the battery in the spare compartment? I would totally do it if I could get away without opening any "new holes."

Did you use the cobra jet relocation tray? Anyway, I like how it looks on your car! It really cleans up the engine compartment.

The only drilling required was to mount the battery box and there small holes. All of the cable routing is through rubber grommets that were already on the car. The battery tray, I cut down a marine battery box so it would sit nicely under the factory mat.

Maybe this is an odd question but you didn't by any chance do a before and after weight bias did you?

Nice job. You may already know this but if you are going to drag race the car it will have to have the battery enclosed and an external kill switch now that it has been moved from the factory location. This is the only reason I have not moved mine yet.

That's good. Personally I think the battery rules are a little tight. Just the same you did a nice job. I would do mine except I dont want the kill switch hassle.

What size fuse do you have at the battery? That looks like an AGU fuse holder, so I would think the absolute largest fuse you could get would be 60 amp? Also, the 4 gauge is a little light to be connecting to the front. You can draw some serious current when starting the car, so I would suggest stepping up to a 2 gauge, or 0 gauge if you are feeling froggy, and putting a circuit breaker in instead of a fuse.
