Be careful with the Ecoboost. I know the published numbers make it look like it has V8 performance with better fuel economy but some folks who actually bought them say otherwise. Again, if your're towing I wouldn't consider it.

I owned both Ford 150s and 250s and absolutely loved them. I have never been a huge fan of dodge. IMO Ford > Chevy > Dodge

most would say the EB is a better performer, than the 5.0.

I'd like to hear more of your thoughts on this as I'm in the market for an EB, and this is the first I've seen these claims.

Have you heard of bad towing capabilities?

Agreed. I have been looking into the 2013's that just came out, and have yet to run into anything negative in regards to their towing capabilities.

The EB performs great and gets huge mileage numbers when empty and driven like Grandma's car. But if you're an aggressive driver or tow a lot then mileage suffers a lot.

This...^^^

Ford is hands-down the best truck in terms of quality, reliability and capability. Aesthetics are subjective.

A guy I work with bought an ecoboost, and it does pull pretty good for what it is, but he says average mileage is generally on par with the 04 he had with the 5.4.
he must drive the crap out of it, because the 5.4 gets horrible mileage in the trucks.

I just bought a new 2012 f150 with the 5.0. I love it! I have no complaints as of yet, granted iv only put 800 miles on it. the quality of the truck is great. also my dad has a 98 f150 4.6 205K miles and still going strong never had a hiccup, and me and my brother have both drove it a lot in high school. i drove the piss out of, and my brother was even harder on it. Fords are deff the toughest trucks out there IMO

Ive heard from a few people that for DD the eco-boost gets great mileage, but when you go to tow something the mileage suffers. but lets face it, if you were going to be constantly towing, wouldnt you be looking at a 250/350 truck.

I want a eco boost F-150 so bad hahaha

I work in the mineral exploration field and have gotten to sample just about everything as a rental-you name it, someone who works for me has broke it. The F150 5.0L has been my definite favorite, it took a full-on idiot driver accident to put that one out of commission. I currently have a 2012 Ram 1500 and I do like it much better than the 3500 ram Cummins I had before this, the GMC 1500 and 3500 before, and the F350 Powerstroke before it (these were all 2010-2012 models, I won't talk about the 2004-2009 stuff). The Ram is starting to develop quite a few squeaks and rattles and I hate the "eco" mode as it seems to hang on too long after you've given it a bit of throttle. Bottom line is that I like the engine, just wish they built a better truck around it. I've hated all the GM trucks as we always lose the lower valence due to their crappy ground clearance, I've had so many of these stupid things hanging by the fog light wires that I had to keep a bag of zip-ties in the console-not to mention how weak their motors feel compared to the recent ford and dodge ones. And the "check engine" lights...I've yet to get past the 8,000 km mark without having to take it back to the rental company for the check engine or "service stabilitrack" warning.
The F150 had 50,000 bush kilometers and felt nice and tight, the Ram has 17,000 and it is feeling a bit loose, I do like the engine though. The GM's have all been a disaster off road, I hate them.

This is the same experience we had on the farm. However, if you just drive the GMC like a high car and tow a boat on the highway, they are pretty good vehicles.

O well all this being said, I have a brand new 2012 ECO BOOST FX4 sitting in my garage right now. :) And everyone thought I was going to buy the dodge.
