strange issue popped up

I still don't understand why you wouldn't just immediately take it to the dealer, 500 miles on the odo?!?!? why wait 48hrs plugging around on the internet trying to figure it out on your own, you just bought a $30k car, BRING IT TO THE DEALER!

I have to get time off work to take it to the dealer, havent had time yet but it IS going to the dealer. i was posting out of curiousity to see if anybody else had this happen. scanned the car and it is code p0301 which is cylinder 1 misfire. car goes into shop weds.

sounds like my 08, it was the coil for that cylinder

I had similar issues after my new engine went in. I had a crank relearn done. I've seen posts of brand new cars needing a crank relearn done so maybe your one of those very few.

will it hurt to drive the car easy if the light isnt flashing and the engine doesnt feel like it's missing? my other car is a classic collector car and isnt licensed for everyday driving

It won't "hurt" the car if you're easy on it, the engine is not running rough, and the light isn't flashing.

But remember, with a misfiring engine, there's fuel still being dumped into the cylinder that doesn't burn it and that fuel goes into the cat-converter which is not designed to have fluids go through it. That fuel can end up clogging the cat-conv.

Yeah, if there's no fuel being sent downstream, then there's no fuel to clog the cat ...

it will be fine to drive it.. just be easy on it.... you have a warranty and road side assistance from ford for a reason. if you dont wanna drive it.. call road side.. have them pick it up.. they will take it to the dealer free of charge to you.

True, and if you bought a Ford extended warranty, it usually covers a rental for at least 5 days.

The standard warranty doesn't ....

I am 99% sure your car just need needs the Misfire Monitor / Neutral Profile Relearn procedure done again. Mine had exactly the same symptoms and this cleared it up..

Talked to the service dept today, car has no mechanical issue and they can't pinpoint why there are misfires. they said ford engineering is working on it and is aware of the problem. there are multiple cylinders misfiring randomly. so right now my car sits until they get a solution back from ford.

Sounds like either a fuel-supply issue or possibly a bad PCM ... maybe even a bad ground ... a loose ground can cause havoc ...

well they sent the car home with no solution available. told me ford would contact me if they came up with a fix. if it happens just a couple more times i will be making them buy the car back. who wants a performance car that wont run right? hell, who wants any new car that wont run right?

Bald, how long where you at a given RPM? My car had a similar issue when I was in third gear at 4k for 1/4 of a mile because I was messing around with the radio..... After that it never did it again.... Cause I never drove that long at that RPM..... I did some internet research and found two other instances.... one a stock 2011 gt and a stock Boss..... Not saying thats your problem but just wondering about how long at a given RPM did this happen....
