^^ you should not have to shift the entire K member to make them fit....no way, no how...I understand the logic about suggesting that but if that is what it takes to make them fit there is a bigger problem somewhere.

Last year, brenspeed had a black Friday sale, and I bought a set of pypes lts. I waited till spring to install them. Driver Side went in easy. Passenger side was hitting the frame rail, not even close to fitting. I called brenspeed and they gave my pypes number. I called pypes and their first question was when I bought it. I told them the black Friday sale, and they told me a jig was out of whack. He said he had a shelf of passenger sides on a shelf waiting for these calls. Took my address and a few days later got my side. Fit perfectly.

Personally I have no issues with pypes. Your situation sucks, but Imo pypes doesn't have anything to do with it. They sold a set of headers that fit with no issues, they aren't responsible for anyone else down the line. Their emails were direct, to the point. And as far as I see it you started the threats with publicly outing them, what kind of response did you expect?

Sucks it happened, hope you get it worked out somehow.

That is why I asked him if this set might be of that run. He never even addresses that. I didn't threaten anything to be honest. I was trying to show him that I could either be a positive Pypes story or a negative.
Like I said in my previous posts, I had no intention of posting a thread like this until he told me that I should be mad at Tim.

Sorry to hear about this Jeff. If I come across a good deal on a set of ARH/Kooks LTs I'll let you know. I can talk to a friend of mine that owns and operates Street Lethal Performance and see if he could help you out if you'd like. Let me know.

Jeff, I was interested to hear what would be the outcome after hulk smashing the header.

I'm baffled beyond what could possibly be holding you up in installing that header, especially since they are second hand and never had problems before.

I like my LT's but I would never install them again unless the engine is out of the car again. Plus they just have caused me clearance problems and emissions shit (even with the cats).

Thanks man. I hope your install goes smooth.

Lol...the outcome so far is that there is no outcome, I am going to try to find a shop to modify this header. I too am not sure what could have been overlooked but I am not going to say that it is not possible, just very unlikely.

I've only read half this thread but I have pypes lt and mid pipe on both my s197 cars and they haven't giving me any issues. I actually bought one set used from a member here and they were perfect.

I'm sorry there's an issue and pypes corporate isn't helping

The only thing I'm getting out of this thread is Customer Service personnel need to take a professional writing course at a community college. These emails are poorly constructed.

I'd say loosen the engine mounts and lift the engine up with either a hoist or a jack to get some play in the setup.

I have the pypes lt also. They fit perfect till I changed my k member. Then they hit. Called upr and told them and they sent me new spacers to raise the motor up.

Stock k member and motor mounts ? Best of luck.

I tried that Ben, I had both of the "mount to block" plates off while trying to wrangle the header in there. I jacked it up/down with no luck. I could only go so high before the back of the blower hit the firewall but that was still a good 2-3" higher than where it sits on the mounts.

I read somewhere on here that the blower had to come off to lift the engine enough to do the job. Not sure is it was a 3V or 4V job. True?

I wonder if the Blower could be the problem? I remember reading some install post in the past, that stated the blower needed to be removed so the front of the engine could be jacked up for clearence. I just don't remember what they were installing.

Sounds logical

Let me preface this by saying, I'm not trying to be argumentative just trying to wrap my mind around the information.

If I took the blower off and jacked the engine another 4" up. What is going to stop the header from hitting the K when I lower it back down?

I could get it up there and even hook the bottom 4 slots of the flange on the 4 bottom bolts but the way it was hitting the K member would not allow it to lean up flat against the head.

I guess I need to do my homework from now on. I thought they were made in the states. I am a cheap ass but I try to stick with American made products.

I'm not saying their product is junk or poor. It's as nice as any other aftermarket product I've laid hands on.

Tim beat me to it... here's the post I was drafting..

I was hoping that I would be writing this as a good customer service experience regardless of what I've read. But here's the story.

I bought a used set of headers from a member here. He had them installed on his 06 so naturally they should fit my 09. I was hesitant to buy Pypes initially because I've read that some people have had issues with leaks but he said he didn't have any issues so I bought them.
Last Sunday my buddy and I decided to install these. Now by now means are we ASSE mechs but we both have lots of wrench time on cars. I read over the Kooks install instructions since the ones that I found on the Pypes site were shit. And away we went.

Drivers side went on perfectly. I wanted to tackle that one first since everyone says that it's the hardest.

Get over to the passenger side. Starter is out, stock manifold out, motor mount bracket out, all of the studs are out. I put 4 bolts along the bottom holes and slide the header up in there. It stops about 1/2" back from aligning with the holes. I pull it back out and investigate. I don't see anything that looks out of place so I slide it back in there. Still not even close. There are two down tubes hitting the K-member and because of that the flange will not align with the holes in the head nor will it lie flat against the head. I pull it back out and have my buddy get under the car. He tries it a couple of times. Neither of us have been drinking at this point. Maybe that's the problem..? Either way this thing was not going in.

Let me preface this by saying, I'm not trying to be argumentative just trying to wrap my mind around the information.

So which is it?
