Thanks for the heads up. Have to see how it works in my system. I can always remove the Krankvent form the PS line if I run into the same things you did. That's basically the way I was running it before my fire. Just thought I would try the extra Krankvent for a closed system.
Yeah, just set it up with removing it later in mind. For me, I had extra black Goodyear hose I got with my fuel system from Lethal. It was definitely affecting drivability. When I got off the gas, I could hear the first vent close, then the second one... almost sounded like an "echo"... so that was the first thing I tried when troubleshooting. Luckily, the first fix was the last. When does that ever happen??

thanks guys, now I'm in the market for an extra set of valve covers!!!
I may have an extra set. I'll let you know if I do.

since i have 2 bungs already welded on the driver valve cover, and all ready have the materials i will run to outlets from the covers with check valves to the breather can. just incase one of the valves happen to fail or not open. i will revise my diagram.

So far so good, car idles great. I pulled the cap off the extra bung just to check the vacuum at idle and it had plenty of suction. I'm going to rig up a boost gauge on that same bung to see the pressures as I get into boost.

But I think it's too much vacuum, even with the 2 catch cans, it dosnt seem to be stopping the oil , I've noticed a oil smell on a few start ups after long drives. I checked the connection at the intake and I can see oil, also wiped oil out of the inside of the hose....both catch cans only have a few drops of oil in them.

Thinking of moving the connection to the inlet of the turbo....

Man, I wish I had more vacuum. I'll take some of yours. I have aggressive cams that idle at -10hg. I was getting BOV pulsing, so I cut a few springs off. A bit better, but still did it. I finally coughed up the cash for the 6psi spring. Much better... but it STILL does it. Oh well... I can live with it.

Sounds like you need a catch an that has a couple chambers in it to seperate the oil vapor out as it goes through the can.

Some guys add copper brillo to the can itself to provide more area for the vapor to deposit.

good idea, did this on a older catch can and still have some left i can use.
Thats what I meant was to make baffled sections to hold a mesh in so it can actually catch some oil vapor. An empty catchcan isn't going to separate oil vapor out of the air before entering back into your engine.

well i thought the JLT cans where prooven to work, guess not...

i added some SS scrubing pads to each can....should help but im not confident it will 100% stop it all.

I'm still running the pcv. I bought a ball type pcv valve and put it in the hose between drivers side valve cover and intake manifold. The stock pcv is still in the valve cover too. This is the same setup vortech and paxton use.

My limited experience has been that the motor runs better (fuel trims are more stable) with vacuum on the crankcase. During boost crankcase pressure can still go out the passenger side. FWIW Procharger instructions have you completely block off the drivers side of the pcv, leaving only the passenger side for ventillation.

I'm pro pcv. Your mileage may vary.

Is the air coming through the can forced through the mesh or does it just kinda pass over it?

The air is being pulled thru both cans by the vacuum from the intake manifold.

No way to catch it all running a closed setup like that, the vac is just going to pull it through, the mesh material is a good idea to help catch more oil vapor though. Doing great with breathers here ;)

I want to keep the PCV system , just gotta figure out a way to separate more oil!

Not really sure what you mean...factory outlets on the valve covers are long gone and welded up. I am running the PCV system , just pulling it from the passenger side thru 2 different catch cans to catch as much oil as I can.

I have a inlet on the intake manifold that pulls vacuum thru 2 different catch cans from one port on one valve cover. Then 1 port on each valve cover is just a vent to release pressure when there is no vacuum ( when I'm in boost)

I'm running a remote breather and catch-can setup that's mounted in the back of the car underneath the drivers side rear quarter panel.

I get all the benefits of breathers, draining of oil, and the best thing is that I don't have to smell it inside the car when sitting in traffic or driving down the road.

Ford 3v mod motors are set up to suck air in the passenger side and blow it out the driver side. I think you would have better results with the catch can on the drivers side. Maybe you have one and I missed it.

Your vacuum readings are exactly what mine are. -18 at idle and -22 during decel.
