I'm looking at probably getting a pretty sweet deal on a D&D T56 transmission. It has everything except the Clutch and Flywheel. I'm woundering what my options are for 26 spine Clutches and flywheels for this set up are.

I have a D&D T56, I use a Spec 3+ and Spec steel flywheel with a McLeod hydraulic tob. My car makes 670 at the wheels with this setup. I went through two stock slave cylinders before going to the McLeod. Don't know which shifter you have, but I'm using a Hurst billet plus made for the 04-06 GTOs. It's a lot better than the pos D&D gives you.

Thanks, I have the SPEC 3+ for the stock transmission already. Is the only difference the clutch being 26 spine? Kevin at PMP said I could reuse my pressure plate and flywheel so this cuts down on cost a lot.

keep your clutch just buy a 26 spine disc. Do you have the driveshaft? I have one for sell for a t-56

If he gets the whole D&D conversion, it comes with an aluminum driveshaft, custom crossmember, and the shitty shifter.

Yep it comes with all that stuff. I just need the clutch but as I already have the Spec flywheel and 3+ clutch it looks as if I'd just be buying the disk for it.

Hmm, I like my current Pro 5.0 shifter, I wounder if they make a 04-06 GTO one that would work. I do remember lots of threads on shifters for the t56, looks like time to revisit them.

The d&d conversion kit comes with a modified 04-06 GTO stock shifter. The GTO guys hate it and usually install an Aussie shifter made for the Monaro. It all boils down to whether or not you're willing to modify the trans tunnel opening. The hurst fits w/o modification.

pro 5.0 does make one for the t-56,and worked great in mine.[/quote

I stand corrected, my experiences are two years old. BTW, is this the shifter made for 03-04 Cobras? If so, did you have to use a shaft angled further back to avoid hitting the dashboard?

I don't have it yet but it is the D&D one for the 05 and up mustang.

Whats the price you got? The thing is I could hook you up probably with a 2.5k tr-6060 swap all new parts.

I'm getting it for 2K for trans, ds, crossmember and flange, I already have a clutch I just have to swatch the disk for the 26 spine spec 3+ clutch. 2.5K would probably still need shipping and a clutch wouldn't it? I know I couldn't reuse my current one with the tr-6060 but I do like them. I also like the 6th gear in the t56, tremic won't give up the viper .5 6th gear for the 6060 for us mustang guys will they?

FYI for those talking about Pro 5.0 and MGW shifters, if you guys are talking about experiences with earlier generation Mustangs and T56 shifters then that won't work with the S197. The shifter placement is very different and a 03/04 Cobra T56 shifter won't work in a S197. It would need to be a modified GTO shifter or a shifter designed to adapt the T56 to the S197.

Anyone try the B&M shifter? This is the one I'm looking at.

#B&M 45043 - B&M GTO 04,05,06 6 speed shifter

The GTO guys hate that one too because it's prone to breakage. Go here and read all about their shifter choices.

http://www.ls1gto.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=7

Keep in mind, most of them will not fit the s197 w/o modification. The Hurst shifter isn't perfect either, it's pretty stiff to shift,
and there is a plastic disk in the mechanism that needs to be sanded down to prevent it from binding in hot weather. I can fill you in on the details if you decide to get one. Here's a pic of it in my car:

The d&d kit also comes with the correct bellhousing too.
