plus these are rotating peices....that wieght savings multiplies the faster you go. its not just 30-50 lbs lighter....it is actually more.
Yes, it's actually just like the weight you lose when you use the spydershaft.

But is it worth spending a 1000 + bucks for such small gains.
some people complain about spending 175.00 on UDP and only gain a tenth yet what I am hearing from this thread is that spending 1000.oo on un sprung weight of 50 lbs and gaining a tenth is worth it ????? I don't get it.
Please help me understand here...

My reluctance is that I don't want to have to change out the studs and use spacers, I want bolt and go and when I am done I put the stock tires back on with stock lug nuts. I hate having 3" studs sticking out of my street wheels, it looks like crap.

Exactly!!!

Star Lites are gonna cost $1000 - $1100 before I even spend a dime on rubber, and they're cheap. God forbid I want a good wheel. Now I am looking at $1600+ for nice Bogarts or Welds. And that's assuming I don't mind studs sticking out on my street tires.

I really appreciate the input guys. You all helped me find the info I am looking for, but for now I am gonna pass.

I think I am going to buy some bullet replicas in a 17x9 and stick the DR's out back, which will be a lot lighter than the stock wheel & tire combo. Then I am going to put 195's or 215's on the stock bullet wheels up front.

Maybe after I am done with the power upgrades for this year, I'll have the front stockers chopped down in the Fall or Winter to shave a little weight and get some skinnies.

sorry to ask this but for the life of me I cant remember , and the car is put away for the winter . what 15x4 fits our car , the 5 - 4.5 '' or the
5 - 4.75 '' ?

looking at ordering fronts as I think they are close enough of a match for the bogarts Iam running on the rears .

Bogart= 299.00/wheel
jeggs +3/8 spacer = @ 100.00 / wheel
seems like a no brainer !!!!!
also does anyone know if the Bogart center caps will fit these rims ?

One of the guys with the wheels will know better, but I am near 100% you need the 5-4.5 w/1.75 back spacing or less.

I just wanted you to know I ran stock lugs/studs with my bogarts. You dont have to change the studs, however it is smart. I am doing mine this winter.

Shall I redirect you to the post I made earlier????????

I watched DynoHo' swap wheels and tires at Baytown a couple of years ago and drop over 4 tenths of a second and pick up 3 mph with no other changes.

Well worth the money in my book.

But.......it's your money.

Marc, I see your point, but I want address the $1000+ for a tenth or two.

We've pretty much done all you can do with standard low to medium cost mods and want to stay NA. Cams, heads, etc aren't cheap either, and while you do get a bit more bang for the buck, ultimately you start running out of options. Dropping weight/rotating mass is just another consideration, and as you point out, starts to compromise appearance and/or functionality (gutting the car). For me, longer studs can be painted to match the wheel. No biggie for me, obviously an issue for others. My '05 isn't my daily driver so that's a very different perspective...

It's your money, but I think this means MY CAR WILL ALWAYS BE FASTER THAN YOURS!!!!!

I just put on my wheels finally, and they are 17x9 up front with 18x10's out back. I'm just going to use another set of 17x9's and mount some M&H's on them for the track! Extremely cheap, but doesn't come close to the weight loss of light weight 15's.

I have 18x9 Mach 1-like wheels with my Eagle F1 GS-D3 street tires, but if I could find the MT 295/45-17, I'd sell my street wheels/tires and run the MT out back on my second set of 17x9 Bullitt wheels, and a 255 series up front for both street and driving to the track. The 15" Bogarts are only for when I can get someone to haul my tires and a jack to the track for me. My GMC Sierra is on it's last legs and I can't tow...

I'd have to agree with SD, I've seen people drop nearly half a second going with lighter wheels all the way around. I know one guy that dropped 6/10ths. The gains vary as there are a lot of other variables that come into play (suspension setup, tires, track prep, driver mod, etc).

I plan on going with Billet Specialties all the way around. For my setup, that's a savings of about 15lbs a wheel just on the rim alone and that's on the 17in version. I'm looking at the 17in ones so I can reuse my rubber, and later down the road I can always switch to 15's in the rear and put a 195 up front (17x7s). It's one of my winter mods for next season.

For a lot of us, speed is a never ending downward spiral of addiction, time and money.

don- is that the exact lug nut I would need to get then? also, i know this might be a pain in the ass but it would help me out greatly, whats the link to the wheel studs you have? and do you have them front and rear? im trying to get things sorted out so that I am "safe" and my wheels dont fall off with the Jegs wheels on, and so it doesnt look like shit when i have my street wheels on. Only problem is that I am going to have to order 50 of them haha, and have 25 of them powdercoated black so they match my black street wheels. im anal like that.
