Chad, have you thought about Maximum Velocity in S.A.?

Dan, I honestly don't know anything about them. I'll have to check out their website.

I get that the Boss is basically a coyote with a Boss IM and a lightly forged bottom end...but my main concern is saving the Trackey for future use. It adds value to the car at time of sale. Hate to lose that if I don't have to.

My issue is I don't want to lose the Trackey programming for future use. I can't find anything definitive on this. If I wanted to ever sell it, I'd want to be able to simply unmarry the handheld/tune and put it back to stock and use the Trackey again. Talking with the guys at Bama, it seems they can't do this. Shaun at AED says that he can.

Essentially the track key is giving you a new stability control program and a custom ECM tune. A rather weak one at that.

If you ever decide to install an aftermarket cai with a larger MAF housing, the original track key programming is gone, removal of cats, gone as the track key does not offer provisions to handle these mods.

You are basically over complicating it by trying to keep the track key for it's minimal benefit.

These 5.0's are modern marvels and such a majestic work of art never seen in the auto industry before that it takes extreme skillzzzzzzzzzzzz to toon one.

There is only one tooner capable of doing so. His hands are golden and his tunes will make a stock 5.0 turn 8's at the track.

Everybody knows this on this site, sheesh son, pay attention! It's the interwebz!!!!!

And how much of a value is the Track Key on resale?

I would think it would hurt the resale if he returns the car to stock and the track key didn't work. Plus I would think it would make people worry, like what else is wrong with the car. But that's just my two cents.

The track key adds to its value, how so? Im with Seer on this. If you had plans on doing mods then imo you wasted money on the track key.

I didn't buy the Trackey. I purchased the car with the Trackey. And when I was looking for a Boss, I only considered the vehicles that had the key or dealers that would install it for no charge.

The Trackey was active when I bought it and I'd like for it to be able to be active again if I so choose. This may not be a possibility with aftermarket tuning, hence the thread to find that out.

when you return the car to stock, you can use the track key again.

I have and didn't get a definitive answer. And the local tuners can't answer the question for certain either. I guess it comes down to trusting an. Email tuner, getting the tune and hoping its not deleted. If it is, so be it as that's the chance I took.

Is this from personal experience? The roadrunner can be a bit different than the coyote especially with the Trackey programming already installed.

^^This made my day better. :)

I know some of you are probably thinking I am overthinking this and to shut up and either get a tune or stick with the Trackey. I just wanted to do my research before choosing a tuner in regards to the Trackey. I appreciate everyone's help/posts/etc.

I personally would not allow some of the ones here in Houston to tune my Boss.

You should not allow ANY of the shops in Houston to touch your car. I have considerable experience with all of them going back to the early 90's, and there's not a single one that isn't a bunch of hacks - except for PSI, but their customer service after the sale is abysmal. I'd go for an email tune or a remote tuning session with someone else.

its all good. no hurt in asking. I tried the AED and others myself and didnt like outcome. I have been burned by so many its sad. I should have staid with the main guys, but at the time not many remote tuned.

There are many good tuners on this sight alone...

It's ok to overthink, when you have 40+ in a car! You don't want to blow from just a n/a tune, but you will have to make the final decision as well. Good luck!

I think you are asking the wrong question to these tuners. I think the tuners are thinking "can I use the track key and an aftermarket tune together at the same time?" vs. "Can I tune my car, then go back to stock and use the track key."
