Vibrations... Many of them... Thoughts please...

Hey fellas, first off is the specs of my bucket. Ancient 05 3V Manual, no drivetrain mods. Stock clutch with 135k miles. Engine has the full array of bolt ons + poly mounts.

First vibration is with the car sitting in neutral between 1,500-2,200 rpm. Vibrates good with clutch pedela pressed in, and vibrates a little more with pedal depressed.

Next vibration is pretty much in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd at that same engine speed, does not change with vehicle speed.

Now, in 4th gear, it vibrates with vehicle speed. Bad between 35-45 mph. Feels like it vibrates from the shifter back...

5th gear, no vibrations till up above 85mph, but I think that's wheel balance. There is no vibrations that I feel when I rip thru the gears. Kinda stumped on it, jacked it up and didn't feel the driveshaft loose. It is difficult at times to place into gear. Any help is appreciated. Thanks fellas!

I had two 3650's in my car before getting the T56 and both of them had a 3rd gear vibration. Other than that it's hard to say without actually test driving it.

First guess would be that the clutch is due for replacement. Second guess would be that maybe a clutch related fastener has come loose.

How does the balancer look? Some of the underdrives have a rep for coming apart. That would be an easy thing to check.

Looks like your first suspicion was correct. I've been sitting on a replacement clutch for about a year and a half and 37k miles ago. Stock clutch finally replaced at 138,567 miles and looky the disk.

Shitty cell phone pic, but yeah. One side of the linings just completely sheared off of the center plate. Pressure plate had some fingers loose also.

I still give it up to the factory unit. Couldn't of asked for anything more from it. I did replace it with another stock unit also.

Ford put a really good clutch in the 3v. I'd go factory replacement like you did too.

Yep, That can definitely cause a vibration.

138k on the original clutch? If so, that's awesome. My car has 38k on it now and I usually drive it like I stole it, hopefully the clutch won't be an issue for a long time!

Believe me when I say I wasn't easy on it. I was vastly impressed...
