Well I can say I helped and this kit took awhile to put on. Like a few full weekends. Can't say much for the dob kit. But would assume its easier being a supercharger. The hardest part I the turbo install was getting all the pipes to line up. Sam can go into more detail.

Sam you are a lucky man. You have a great wife. But you are both great people and friends.

I appreciate that brother! I am a very blessed man indeed, not only with a wonderful wife but also with great friends like Yourself and Dustin (and many others) who I know I can call on at anytime no matter what the topic or problem, yes the Lord has been very good to me.

How was the I stall tied between this or a dob kit. Just seeing what everyone thinks
As Kyle said my powerhouse kit was a pain to install but most of it was small self inflicted things such as not having all the tools and having the wrong couplers for the charge pipe because I changed turbos from what came with the kit. My biggest aggravation was the exhaust leak where the manifold meets the crossover pipe. The flanges were slightly bowed and it wouldnt let them pull the pipes up to make a good seal on the manifold. My only other complaint is the placement of the turbo, it is positioned low, Im guessing for hood clearance and a clean overall look, but it causes it to be a pain in the butt to work on if you need to get to the turbo. But all in all its a good kit and Mike @powerhouse answered any question I called with and was very helpful.
After the initial install I said I would never install another turbo kit and would advise anyone to just go supercharger, I retract that statement now. After having a few months to cool down and really look at mine I can honestly say look at the pros and cons of both and choose what suits you. I love the thought of an easy install with a supercharger but per pound of boost a turbo will make more power on the same setup, so in the end its all in what you want. The turbo kit is a little harder to install but if you take your time it could be a fairly quick install too, my install should not be used as an example lol.If you decide to go turbo or would just like to ask some more question about my kit just shoot me a pm and I'll help you the best I can:thumbup:

Not yet, life seems so busy right now that it hasn't even crossed my mind to call the local dyno and make an appointment. On top of that I'm trying to cut any wasteful spending in preparation for this DOA furlough that is suppose to hit us in July. Though I don't know what #s its making I do know that it is a fun street car. I haven't been beating on it because I want the clutch and motor to last for a while, but I have done a few hard 2nd, 3rd, 4th gear pulls and it makes me smile lol. I will update as soon as I get some numbers though.

Btw I got a good in-car video if I can get time to edit and upload it:thumbup:

Thanks for the sympathy fellas. It stinks but this is the risk we take when going FI on the stock motor, I was well aware of the weak rods in these 3Vs. Funny thing is I dreamed this happened last night lol.
As far as plans go I dont really have one atm lol, I am a Christian and fully believe in being led by God in all situations (even things like this) so thats what I'm going to do.
If anyone has any suggestions for a budget short block feel free to post/pm me.

@ Lito: I was actually going to send you a data log today and let you know how good the car was running with the last revised tune you sent, it was spot on brother lol

@ Kyle: You and Dustin are already making plans aren't you? LOL

Sorry to see this happened man. I out off installing my turbo for this reason. I knew i would get retarded with it and shoot a rod through the block so i built a forged motor first.. If your planning on building a forged motor or are just going to look for a shortblock i have a good stock one for sale. Best of luck with whatever you decide to do.

What was your total cost on the long block?

This is going to be off the top of my head, bit should be very close.

Rods $400
Pistons w/ rings $600
Bearings $110
Gaskets/TTY Bolts/GT500 Oil Pump/Tensioners $350
TF Valve springs $200
Lockouts $50
Machine work and balancing $550

Total $2260

Add a few dollars here and there for small things I may have forgotten and you get about $2500, not too bad for an engine that has made almost 800ft/lbs of tq. I could have swore it was more than that, but I looked back and all the other money was spent on supporting mods like a clutch and fuel system.

Hate to see this Sam. I'd take my time on it and take the winter to work on it and make one hell of a ride

Yup. I agree. I'm going to be doing some nasty F/I this winter and taking my time!
