Cam, from what I'm finding, all of the GT500 harnesses have that larger plug. There is an '08 GT500 (with HID's) in our shop that has it, the non-HID harness in my car now has it, and the HID harness I have waiting to go in has it as well.

I think this is one of those incompatible differences between the GT body harness, and the GT500 swap.

The lack of information this is leading me to think this as well. Now I'm stuck in the water unsure what do to at this point.

I have this - 9R3Z-14A005-SA is the GT500 Body harness, Coupe, Shaker 500. Not happy at all about this. I don't even know where that leaves me with the fuel pump wiring now.

It's as involved as the picture makes it look. Consider that a last resort.

Well... what other options do I have for that plug?

As for the fuel pump wiring, I wouldn't need the FRPP kit with the GT500 body harness, right? Just the pump, and the FPDM module and would it be fine? or no? If it eliminates my need to buy the kit, then maybe this could work out.

I went ahead and ordered the harness just to have on hand if I need to do this, if not I can return it.

Damn, that looks like a fucking nightmare but you've come this far and the car is going to be so badass when you're done. Just push through and finish it out right.

As for options, you could run a GT harness, and just hard wire your intercooler pump, and continue on.

Yes, if you end up running the GT500 body harness, you won't need the whole FRPP kit. You'll just need a pump and an FPDM.

Well, that's a major trade off between the two of them.

Sam, are the FPDM the same p/n just need two of them (I use the existing GT one plus another one)?

Wiring in the pump may be a good option too. Where do I run it off of?

I'll just have to sit on this and look at the cost. I know the GT500 dual fuel hat isn't too expensive. Plus I like OEM and would probably lean towards doing the entire body harness swap.

Yes, I'm very frustrated right now, but I know I'll be happy with this when I'm done. I'm glad I found out this big difference with the body harness now. That knowledge is very useful for others who may look into type of build.

Cam, the GT500 fuel pump kit from Ford Racing comes with a plug-and-play harness for putting the fuel pumps into a GT. Mine was amazingly simple to install and I'm no electrician (I watched my mechanic wire it in). The majority of the wiring was tying in the VMP fuel pump voltage booster.

Alright... Just need to sit on this for the next day or so.

So basically it is these two options.

Option 1
GT OEM HID Harness
GT Body harness
Wire in Intercooler Pump
FRPP GT500 Dual Fuel Pump
+Cheaper (money/time)

Option 2
GT500 OEM HID Harness w/ OEM Intercooler Pump Wiring
GT500 Body Harness Swap (includes all pump wiring)
GT500 Dual Pump (w/ 7R3V-9D372-BC FPDM)
+OEM feel that I get off at.

I'm guessing there is some market out there for buying my used GT body harness and the OEM HID harness.

Yes, the FPDM's are the same.

The intercooler pump can be tied in a couple ways. With my Rotrex kit, I wired in a relay, and had the pump come on with the key on.

When planning my swap, I considered trying to make it work without swapping the body harness. Then I really looked at what potential problems may arise, and how those problems would be diagnosed. I envisioned a tech plugging into the data port, and not getting all the info he needs to fix whatever is wrong because I chose not to do the complete swap, and telling me "Well, good luck, there's nothing more I can do." I didn't want that. I wanted it complete, and right, and everything to plug in correctly and communicate as if it had never been apart.

With that said, if it really is as simple as wiring the intercooler pump, and running the FRPP fuel pump kit and that's it, then do it. I personally feel you're going to run into more problems than that.

This is where I'm at right now... so we all know what that means.

Destruction party! :flamethr:

It's really not that bad. A full days worth of work and you'll knock it out. Stay organized, take your time, double check your work, take notes if you need, and it'll be perfect.

And if you have any questions, hit me up. There is a trick with the dash I can help you with.

I guess I'll start with getting organized. There is shit galore inside the car. I need to clean it up and label hardware and clean up a little. If I get to the shop tomorrow I'll do the following -

*remove front seats
*remove console
*remove steering wheel
*unbuckle harnesses from the front

Good thing I didn't finalize any of the HE fan wiring. What should I be aware of with the dash trick?

Also do I need to change anything with the SJB or what about fuses in the both the SJB and the Fuse Box?

Side note -
Got a new stud today for the rear axle and new battery tray.

On the battery tray there's a silly tab sticking out towards the valve cover. Do yourself a favor and cut that off flush while you have it on the workbench and can do it cleanly. That stupid tab will prevent you from pulling the valve cover at a later date and serves no other purpose that I can find. Mine is trimmed off and that allowed me to pull my valve cover this week since I'm swapping cams.

For option 1. If you can find the required connector I would expect it should be pretty easy to wire in the intercooler pump using a relay. Other than power and ground all you need is a key on source. Here is a Meziere pump example.

The GT500 tray doesn't have that tab. You need a miracle to pull those covers off with that engine in the bay. I hope I never have to do that again. That was probably the biggest PITA with this build so far.

I haven't ruled it out yet, but I still like the OEM-type approach.
