So, what is a man to do these day when trying to sell a 3v GT?

traded my 3v in in 5/12, got 15.5k for it. it was modded, traded it in with everything on it. it sold in two weeks to a nice guy locally that actually found me and we keep in touch.

Was it a "mom n' pops" dealer or a major dealer? That's a freakin awesome deal btw.

It should be be a repeat cycle for those.

This thread has really got me thinking. My 3v will be going up for sale locally this wknd. I don't need to sell it, but it's a toy and I want to see what I can get for it. I'll list it as is, since if it doesn't sell I'm keeping her

All markets are local. Some areas are stronger than others. People forget that we are the hard core on here. Most guys who buy a mustang just want a sporty car to drive. That is why dealers like the trade as stock as posible. Most buyers will never mod the car. If they are looking used, what latest greatest new car is out doesn't matter.

Take it from me, you're gonna be disappointed if you try to sell the 3v....its a dead market, IMO.

Ya I get that, that's why I'm not demoding the car at all. I like it just the way it is, and will continue to enjoy it if I get no hits. Lots of oil field money around here though, so we will see.

I can't standz no moarrrr!!!!1

3v board members said:
man..3 valves ain't worth shit 'cuzza duh 5ohhh

Value of 3v Mustangs dropped only to people that frequent these boards. Period.

Expected trade in/market value on ANY CAR is based on age, mileage, trim, market demand, etc. There is no asterisk in the pricing guides that says "*3v engine = subtract $5000". The root cause of 05-10 mustang owners anguish is the fact that the sports coupe market AS A WHOLE is pretty shitty, especially for those powered by V8s. People just don't daily drive V8 sports cars much any more. Amongst the sea of Camrys and Kias, the most common sport coupes I see on the road are the current V6 Camaros and Hyundai Tiburons. For reasons I can't fathom, other than it's a fresher design, the Camaro is more appealing to the general public. It can't be the interior or how they drive, that's for fucking sure. And the Hyundai because it's cheap...and it's JDM, yo. Which is what the kids like these days.

For 3v owners with "5oh fever", I see two options:

I.) Close this browser window, go enjoy your car, and stay the fuck off the internet.

II.) Pull as many parts off your car you can feasibly and get shopping. The deals are out there and it depends on a lot of variables, so BE PATIENT. Somewhere, on the right day, there's a dealer/salesman that's hungry for a sale. Internet quotes are a good place to start.

Now back to my beer. Happy Friday.

I went back and forth forever on this very same situation. I decided since my 3v was paid off and I had quite a bit of blood/sweat/tears/money into it, I'd keep it for a while, save up some cash and wait patiently for a good deal on a 5.0 to pop up. When the time finally came I pulled the trigger and now I've got some time to decide what exactly it is I'll do with the 3v. In a perfect world I'd like to keep it and do a full build on it over time, but I very well could lose interest and just de-mod and sell/trade. This may or may not be financially feasible for you now, but I found that with a lot of patience and research I was able to have both. Just another option for you to think about...good luck either way!

There is still decent market for these cars. And I've seen, too, more interest in stock or near-stock vehicles than those modded.

But, what does a person do if they have a built engine and supercharger? To me, it would seem to make sense to at least revert it back to n/a, to make is easier to sell. Or first try to sell it like it is, and see what bites you get.

But it would be a waste to sell/trade a built engine at otherwise stock-engine values. If someone had an extra stock engine around, wouldn't it make sense to put a stock engine in and remove the built engine, and either sell it or use the built engine for some other project? We know how much it costs to build a strong engine.

I just bought an '09 convertible 3v with 70k for $15k from a private seller. SCT tune and Steeda intake, otherwise stock. New Michelins, full service history, documented highway driving, and a retired owner made it worth every penny to me.

The resale on these 3v-ers I think is fair. Not great, but fair, given that a buyer of a used Mustang has to shift through a lot of shit to get a decent one.

Listed my 05 with 76k for 16,000 today, with all the mods. I doubt it will sell, but I've already had a few text for more pictures. That's the price I would let it go for without going thru the hassle of a demod.

The 3v market does seem a bit soft. I'm in Northern CA, and looked all summer and fall at new 5.0's, 3v's, and old 5.0's. Around here the 5.0's used weren't worth the asking price so I considered new, but in the end didn't want to spend that kind of money. I finally found an 06 gt 5spd manual with leather etc in excellent condition and low miles (52k). Paid 13,500 for it and have been happy ever since. While the new 5.0 technology is amazing, I just saw too much value in what I got. This car will easily attain my performance goal of mid 11's at 120ish and do it cost effectively.

I bought my low mileage premium 06 three years ago for $16,600 from a dealer (asking price was 20k lol). I probably could have done better with more patience, but I liked the car and appreciated the mild mods (SCT tuner, Steeda LCA/CAI, Corsa mufflers, nav stereo and some exterior mods) Stock parts were in the trunk I and got to know the 55 year old prior owner.

I'll buy an 11-14 coyote eventually, but they're dropping in value along with my 06 so I'm in no rush.

I tried to sell my 09 GT 43K miles for months with absolutely no luck. Took it to Carmax just last month and they gave me 15k for it. I got exactly what KBB put the trade in value at.

Doesn't hurt to just try, only takes them about 30 min to give an appraisal.

What I did with my truck is take the Carnac offer to the dealer that I traded in the truck at. They matched it, and I still got the tax savings. Of course that is if you like the Carmax offer

Sold mine with the KB on it for 17. I feel 18-19 was doable had I more patience but I took the first serious buyer. I had tards quoting edmunds all the time and wanting to know why I thought the car was worth more than 12. Craigslist ad. No way was I selling for edmunds TMV. I'd rather push it off a cliff.
