Just got off the phone with the insurance company guy. He's in Tampa but will be sending a local inspector by tomorrow to look at the car. I had to send him a picture of the tow receipt and went ahead and sent him some pictures of the car as well.

Sorry about your car Brian Like everyone said the good thing is that you're okay and can build another if you want. I went through this several years ago too my car hydroplaned on i-4 in the rain & got t-boned by a tractor trailer. get receipts for all of your aftermarket stuff and they may cut you something back.

I'm not even expecting anything for my aftermarket parts since technically they aren't covered in my policy anyway. Spoke with the guy today and told him I definitely want to buy it back since I have so much invested in uncovered items. When he said he wanted to arrange to have it towed out of my driveway as soon as possible I said "Absolutely not, that is not an option." As long as I maintain possession I'm in a better position to negotiate.

WOW I am so sorry to hear Brian! as for being embarrassed about it happening.. DONT BE. These things happen brother and 99% of us have been so close to being in your shoes and just by the grace of God avoided it.
As for the cops that you dealt with you should at the very least make a call to their superior, you as an American tax paying citizen DO NOT have to take that kind of verbal abuse!

How are the laws in FL regarding fixing a totaled car? Is it allowed with a branded title? It looks fixable to me but I have no idea about the frame.

When I told the agent I wanted to buy it back he said that the title would be marked as totaled and it would not be legal to get it registered or ever put it back on the road again, and I said I was fine with that. I don't think I would want to keep it if they decide to repair it. If they decide it's repairable I will most likely take the check and still strip it out.

In 2004 I built a $50k custom chopper that was stolen. I notified the insurance company and informed them of the theft. I also told them I didn't want to settle just yet because I hoped the police would find my bike. Finally, after 3 months, I settled.

If you need time to pull shit and put OEM shit back in, take it.

My 2011 Gt/cs was fully loaded except nav and they wouldn't pay me even what a premium gt was selling for at a car dealer at that time ;-(

Brian, sorry to see such a beautiful car totalled. Glad your ok thats whats important. I've been there man, I totalled a beautiful 92 Fox coupe that was almost new just "playing" so don't feel too bad. It happens! How many have we seen on this forum alone?

But don't let the insurance company take that car off your property!!! YOU OWN THAT SUM BITCH!!! They can do all adjustments, appraisals, etc. with it sitting right there. If they want to see it on a lift, arrange your local shop to loan or rent you their lift and you have it towed to the shop. If their shop gets possession of it, they will include your modifications in the appraisal of the salvage cost. The salvage should not be a real high number.

Oh, and if it don't work out with the sale of the chassis after you strip her down, give me a shout, I've been looking for a rolling chassis for a while now that was affordable.
