It could have something to do with the throwout bearing that comes with the older model.

IIRC mine cost under $250 shipped. However, it wasn't listed as a "Mach 400". I'm fairly certain it's the same thing though. The exedy website has a chart with clamping pressure, clutch disk, etc that are contained in the kits. The thing is they don't list a Mach 400. Like I said before the part for mine was 07806 which was a lower clamping force thin organic disk 26 spline hub clutch kit. IIRC the 10 spline version still started with 0780x. There were several variations with a thicker disk, stronger pressure plate, different hub, etc.

I do not see a manufacturer part number on AMs website? I've done a lot of reading on here the past two days and know that the Mach 400 clutch for older Mustangs fits fine because they used the TR-3650 as well ('01 Cobra, 01-04 GT, Mach 1, etc.).

They look like the same clutch. What concerns me is what AM is charging for the Mach 400 listed specifically for the S197 without the slave while LMR is selling the same thing with the slave for $60 more it looks like. Is there something different with said clutch? Or is AM just trying to trick someone?

$399 before the discount for the sale they're running right now.

Got you. My clutch/slave cylinder/something decided to FUBAR itself Friday so now I'm looking at either the Mach 400 or 500 to replace it with. Just been doing some searching on the forum to see members input on the two.

This is the 10 spline version of the clutch I have except this one comes with a slave. 07805csc

http://www.exedyusa.com/oe/Clutch_Specifications

I'd deduce from this that the non slave version would be 07805.

Do a search on google and see what they come up for price wise.

Mach 500 will make you hate your car. It performs flawlessly but it has a very heavy pedal and mine engaged almost at the floor, which made my left hip hurt after a week and I had to remove it after 3 months. Jaye (Taxman) had the identical experience with it, not sure who bought it from him.

I don't find the Mach 500 that bad. Compared to just about every performance clutch for fox bodies, it is pretty mild for pedal effort.
Only day I hated it was when I was stuck in traffic, so I wouldn't recommend it for a traffic heavy commute. Heck, I wouldn't recommend a muscle car at all for that.

Same experience with mine... Very touchy release and I hated the increased pedal stiffness. But worked as advertised otherwise.

I think I have the 400, but the way Skwerl describes the 500 I think I might have that. I know it is quite a bit stiffer than the stock and engagement is pretty far down. Does anyone with the 400 have comments on the stiffness of the pedal? I know I was quite surprised when I first started using it but now i'm used to it and don't really notice how stiff it is.

07805 or 07805csc (with slave) = 10 spline Mach 400
I just installed one and pedal pressure is very similar to the stocker.

I was 520 rwhp with 440 torque launching on slicks. Never slipped. I hated it because the pedal was so firm, but never had any issues with it.

So.....

Mach 350 stage 1 = exedy 07809, which can't be found on exedyusa.com

Mach 400 stage 2 = exedy 07805, which exedy calls it their stage 1.

Mach 500 stage 3 = exedy 07802, which exedy still calls it their stage 1.

Mach 600 stage 4 = exedy 07952, exedy calls it their stage 2.

Now keep in mind there are 0780x variants for different spline counts and letters like cdc pcdc blah blah for different disc shapes.

So what's my point? Basically we want the Mach 400 not the 500 for daily drivers with some power right?
