It could have something to do with the throwout bearing that comes with the older model.
IIRC mine cost under $250 shipped. However, it wasn't listed as a "Mach 400". I'm fairly certain it's the same thing though. The exedy website has a chart with clamping pressure, clutch disk, etc that are contained in the kits. The thing is they don't list a Mach 400. Like I said before the part for mine was 07806 which was a lower clamping force thin organic disk 26 spline hub clutch kit. IIRC the 10 spline version still started with 0780x. There were several variations with a thicker disk, stronger pressure plate, different hub, etc.

I do not see a manufacturer part number on AMs website? I've done a lot of reading on here the past two days and know that the Mach 400 clutch for older Mustangs fits fine because they used the TR-3650 as well ('01 Cobra, 01-04 GT, Mach 1, etc.).
They look like the same clutch. What concerns me is what AM is charging for the Mach 400 listed specifically for the S197 without the slave while LMR is selling the same thing with the slave for $60 more it looks like. Is there something different with said clutch? Or is AM just trying to trick someone?
