I know this is the 3.4, for now. Do either of you know how much space there is b/w the firewall when using a 4.5L? Just curious.

Whipple says the 4.0l is 3/4" longer towards the firewall. I have plenty clearance for that. The beauty here is the blower can be moved with revision to the blower base plate as long as the proper length snout can be accommodated. I don't see it as a problem..

The 4.0l really is almost to big. Heavy rotors and that consumes power. The 4.5l likely would be worth it unless you had huge displacement to go along with it. Personally I think the 3.4l is perfect for the 4.6 3v.

Too big? I didn't know that was in your Mustang vocabulary, lol. I'm still waiting for someone to do this with a 2.9. Not me.

You will, after you are done with turbos (yes, more than one) ;-)

No, not me. I'm really happy with 17mpg in town and 400rwhp+. Maybe I could put a set of 4.56 in to really maximize my na power but that would be about it. Probably not though, the 4.10 are quiet and they match up to the older 6060 just fine.

Turbo/s are an interesting thought but I'd need a setup that uses stock cats in the stock location. AFAIK turbonetics is the only setup available that does that. See what you have me thinking about?

Is payback time, see what you've got me into.

Stay away from the turbonetics kit. The intake pipe was designed by someone who shoots at dogs and doesn't love his mommy.

Haruph, they told me they were the same. Doesn't matter, there is plenty of room. We moved the blower forward a touch.

The 4.0L and 4.5L have a different bolt pattern on the case anyway, they need their own adapter plates. We can put them wherever we want.

That is what the engineer at Whipple came back with when I asked for the spec. Maybe I misunderstood but he said same bolt pattern etc. Did not ask about the 4.5

I can assure you the bolt pattern on the case is different. I have the CAD drawings they sent me.:hi:

I wish they were the same. It would make my life easier. Now I have to do math.:thud:

Was talking about the dimensions of the 3.4 vs 4.0. They told me the case grew towards firewall 3/4" other than that everything same

Ahhhh, gotcha. The case is longer but I think the elbow is shorter so it has the same overall length.

The bolt pattern from the blower case to the adapter plate is different. You would never notice unless you tried to swap plates between the two.

So when is my 4.0 plate going to be done? Are you going to have to buy in bulk from Whipple for group buy? I will just buy the blower thru you rather than send another one to them

Whenever you want it.

Yes, it won't be an issue.

A good idea.

..................not like you are ever going to need that 4.0L though. I'll be amazed if you wear that 3.4L out.:beerdrink:

Good to know, thanks guys!.. Helluva a kit and the quality/finish looks great (and I dont mean the bling on the intake, although that looks slick too).
