Next year they'll open it—or some of it—and talk about improved breathing and more HP. Think long, always keep a little something in hand.

I think its more for highway mpg, if the size of the inlets are sufficient, then send the rest of the air over the top or around the car.

I saw a S550 on the scales today at 3375#! Yes it is a full prep deal. But it is street legal, has a IRS, has a blower (along with heat exchanger), 8.50 cert cage, etc.

A S550 can be light.

well that didnt take long, the mustang ecoboost

quoted from source and OP

Ok, so here is what happened. The guy working next to me pulled this 2015 4cyl Eco Boost mustang in with a giant trail of oil spewing out behind him. The vehicle has 300 miles on it. We work for a ford dealership and can use our IDS to determine what exactly was happening at the time of the failure. The vehicle was traveling at 41mph at 2100 RPM when the failure occurred. This is the pan and he just pulled it in to take a quick look. From what I gather it threw a rod and took a chunk out with it. The new 4cyl Mustangs while looking good on paper are complete POS Turds with no balls and can barely get out of their own way. All of the new Ford 4cyl Eco Boost motors are garbage, Especially the 1.6 and the 2.0.

One smashed motor means they are all garbage?

I guess that means the new Corvette motor is garbage too.

And the 2004 Ducati 749R's (which is arguably the best bike Ducati ever made).

Yeah, it sucks for the owner. But that is what warranties are for. Nothing in this world that is mechanical is 100% fail-proof.

Gotta agree with Gmitch, very immature and childish post by the OP of whatever thread that was. I understand that he is probably very upset, I would be too, but saying all ecoboost motors are garbage because one of the millions of ecoboost motors let go is an extreme statement.

Hmmm...my 2.0 Ecoboost in my ST must be a total price of shit. I'm so fortunate that it has made it 27k miles I guess. Maybe I should go trade it for something that's not so shitty. What What a dumbass. Bummer for the owner of the car but Ford will take care of it. Sometimes things happen. Oh, and I have one of those shitty 2011 Mustangs that blow up engines left and right too. 30k on it, probably about to go!

100 % fail-proof.

It feels like shit that a $40,000 2015 mustang has a prop rod. But on the other hand, I have literally almost lost a hand to a failed hood strut.

I used to work on 3rd gen F-bodys. a strut failed while I was working on the suspension with my hand over the fender to support myself. When that big ass hood came down thank god I was wearing a large bulky watch. Broke the watch but thank god I only came out with a nasty bruise.

Prop rods don't bother me one bit.
They don't bother me either, I'm a service advisor at BMW and it's frustrating topping off fluids in the service lane on a car with failing hood shocks. Haha. I will say that I have Redline hood shocks on my car mainly for looks at meets and such, and they make for nice engine bay pics. But I left my hood prop as a back up bc the time will come when I need it. Pretty much every tech at BMW has one of these because of their failure rate. And it's a good safety measure bc you don't want the first time they fail when you're working under them.

I almost smashed my thumb trying to jump start my dad's third gen one time. The strut after a certain position couldn't hold the hood up anymore, and came flying down. Pulled my hand out before it could do any damage.
