Here is the youtube video from MGW regarding the Gen3 RACE SPEC shifter:

I started taking out the older MGW shifter, making a way for the new MGW Gen3 RACE SPEC shifter headed my way. Here is a pic of this behemoth of mechanical engineering:

First let me say you better pray you have small hands. Fat handed folks are going to be in a bind. LOL

You will HAVE to lower the transmission to get to this 10mm bolt here. NO OTHER WAY AROUND IT!!!!!

I used and old scissor jack and a piece of 2x4 to shim the transmission and hold it in a lowered position while I removed that bolt.

To get the little noise suppressant "cup" out of the shifter linkage arm I used a small screwdriver and pryed/worked it out from the BOTTOM of the cup, like so:

You can do it like the MGW video describes by grabbing it by the little holes but I'm gonna say there are going to be ALOT of destroyed plastic cups by doing it that way if you do not handle it tediously like MGW suggests. . The way I did it kept the little cup from tearing along the thin plastic that runs across the top of the cup that was suggested for prying on.

Cup is out with ZERO evidence of distress on the thin plastic around the holes:

My shifter will be here Monday so I'll finish the install then.

Here's how the Blowjob piece of crap came to me after having to practically beg to get it mailed to me:

Here's how the MGW shifter came to me in 2 days after ordering without a single hassle AT ALL!!!!:

YOU SUCK BLOWJOB RACING!!!
#Blowfish Racing <-----Put correctly for someone actually using the Search Function, hopefully this will dissuade them from dealing with this CrackerJack company.

Notice the SUPERIOR workmanship and attention to detail in the shifter vs the afterthought Blowjob bracket:

And remember, MGW is offering a minimum of $200 buy back option for previous MGW shifter versions so that cuts the cost for this mechanical marvel to $299!!!!!

More pics:

The MGW is EXTREMELY rigid after fastened in place. ZERO movement from the shifter box.......laterally, horizonally, ZERO, ZIP, NOTTA! You could literally hang the whole weight of your body on this setup from underneath the car and it WILL NOT MOVE.

All buttoned up from underneath. Tip: when it comes time to put the shifter box in place and bolt it up to the linkages, access it' s position from INSIDE the car and drop it down through the hole in the floorboard. Don't even try to work it around the driveshaft and in place, just go inside the car and drop it down through the hole.

THIS setup seems like it's going to be the ABSOLUTE answer. I'm not adding anything to this setup at all. MGW RACE SPEC shifter and that's it. No bracket, no bushings, no nothing.

Almost done!! Getting that boot on is by far the WORST part of the whole project!!!!!!

4 bolts and the driveshaft is out of your way, jus sayin'.

Yep. The bolts are reuseable too. On the older generation they are 12.9 bolts that get 76 ft. lbs. Takes an extra 10 minutes max and that's if you have to spin the wheels for better access.

Good luck Darren. Does this mean you will be driving the car?

The driveshaft isn't in the way persay. It's easy to work around the driveshaft. It's the trans tunnel that is narrow and requires lowering the transmission. Believe me, I tried EVERYTHING and still had to lower the tailend of the trans. Other than that, easy install I presume. I'm completely at a point to go back with the new one. Just waiting for delivery.

MGW states we don't have to use the heat shield any longer. I also hear they are shipping the rear shifter bracket and everything else needed to install the Gen3

No idea why you install nice parts only to hardpark.
I'd bet you just sit in your car and make car noises like this guy.....

Still looks like it needs to be divorced from the body. But mmmmmm...beefy.

That's a nice looking design. Do they require poly or solid motor mounts for use with that shifter? (due to the limited movement of the arms)

Considered a blowfish bracket with it? Down side you would have to powdercoat it race red because that's how Darren hardparks.

I watched a video where George was discussing the new shifter. He picked the trans up by the shifter, and the shifter didn't budge. The blowfish is not necessary.

He just sold his blowfish bracket. Probably not necessary with how beefy that race spec is

I am pretty sure I have listen almost a thousand times that the BF bracket is not necessary AT ALL with these shifter on the video. He has made it very obvious the bracket is not needed period....

Adding that bracket will be just wasting money and adding extra weight for nothing.

I'll check back next November 2015 when it's actually installed in the car.

The bracket also serves as a DS loop, similar to the Stiffler design.

Boom. Pair a rigid shifter design with bracket that compliments it while being driveshaft safety loop, to me, sounds like an amazing bulletproof combo. That's what I was thinking.

Or you could buy a DS loop for half the price if you really need one. The MGW does not need the bracket, its a waste of money.

Watch this video, or just skip to 10:00 in.

I got news for you, the Barton heavy duty 2 post doesn't need a bracket either.

Darren did you really go from MGW to MGW with blowfish bracket to race spec MGW without bracket in like 10 miles? Sheesh......

Unless barton is replacing the arm the shifter box mounts to the transmission, it still has the side to side movement. MGW is offering new bushings for folks who dont need the racespec but want a total solution.

Ahhhhhhh I want one so bad! Just ordered the roush upper grille, BMR lca with relo, uca with mount, phb, camber bolts, and 1.5 drag lowering springs (all bmr). This is next and I have to get this asap. Probably will be a couple months, I guess that's long enough to see if anyone has any complaints with it though :thumb:

Looks like a beast, and I hate this stock shifter.
I think I'll get this and then do the on3 twins. Mcleod clutch can wait til after lol  already have my fuel system ready too
