Aside from not including the cosmetic bezels for intakes, can anyone tell me a reason why I shouldn't jump on this deal and adapt it to fit my 2011 GT? Seems like a killer deal, even if it's only 2.5" diameter.

Also, for you corner carvers who use your car as a daily driver, I assume they should be closed/blocked off when not at the track?

I used the above ,with the Vorshlag modified dust shield, to piece my break cooling together. The black ducting was cheaper. It was a matter of money. If I had more money I would have used the orange, higher temp hose. I haven't had any issues with mine though.

If your front fascia has an available front ducting, then I would use that.

Vorshlag's 3" kit is only $90 more and put the opening closer to the center of the hub where it is needed the most.

Ah! A fellow cheapskate! I love the idea of black ducting too - more of a stealthy look. Do you have the CS front bumper? If not, can you post pics of how you mounted your inlet?

No; it is a Roush fascia for 2006. Give me a bit to take a pic.

Edit - added pic. Not pretty, but at the time, an inlet specific to that fascia was not available . I thought about completely sealing the metal mesh, but I was worried it might not be structurally sound at high speeds. Vorshlag now has one I would like to buy, but it's not high on the priority list right now.

Also my boss is in aircraft, and the orange hoses they are using actually would cost like 8 dollars. So theres that. lol. im a cheap skate too.

I have this same kit, cannot go wrong and if you do any sort of serious tracking with race compound pads it is a necessity. Dramatically improved rotor life with this.

These back plates from Vorshlag are on the Ford racing kit, they will be needed if you go with the Amazon method though the high temp hoses do hold up way better and aren't really that much more money in the end. We ran the same black hoses on one of our other track cars, worked fine just but eventually had to use duct tape for its actual purpose on them until we switched to the high temp ones. They are a wear item to a degree so they'll need to be replaced at some point but every season is a little much.

I only block them off to bed in new pads.

Anything below 50-60 degrees, I have to block of mine to get heat in the pads. But this can vary between the type of pads you are running.

Fyi, Vorshlag makes their own backing plates. They're a superior design to the Ford ones

Seriously, they are. We've made three major revisions to improve them. Had the Ford Motorsports part not been so bad, we wouldn't have even thought about building them.


We start with OEM backing plates to get the right shape and better airflow. Originally Ford didn't do this and used flat plate. They still don't use the better backing plates with the raised center. This cost a lot more than the flat plates most people sell. We also use the correct size tubing instead of the cheap "almost right" size that most builders use, including Ford.

Using these OEM stampings, we can get the lip of the backing plate very close to the rotor surface, allowing as little air as possible to bleed away and forcing as much as we can through the center of the rotor.

We've also improved the entry duct, moving it closer to the center of the hub so less of the opening is going directly to the rotor face and more of it goes into the rotor center.

For our 4" ducts, we use oval tubing to make them even more efficient. And keep the entry duct in the center of the rotor. This oval tubing is much more labor intensive to work with, but we are trying to stretch the usefulness of the inexpensive Brembo brakes so track guys don't have to go to a much more expensive rotor and caliper upgrade.
