Would it be possible to do a color combo like this:

The plan with mine is I wanted to do a stripe scheme with that kind of color combo. The stripes are almost like flat black/gunmetal gray, but still glossy. I think it looks cool. I would possibly be doing the "5.0" and "32 Valve" with dark chrome badges.

Who sells inserts for the bars? I've seen the inserts on guys cars that were red white and blue, but I've googled quite a bit before and can't find them.

Cool, thanks. I was just coming in here to say I'd found several variations. Still not the red/white/blue that I was originally wanting, but it's better than what I found when I looked before.
Yup, I got polished stainless steel "32V TiVCT" letters from them to match.

I think they add a little more visual aesthetics to the engine bay.

Probably do these next. Here is some nite money for you to spend Darren haha. I would do all white. Don't want to paint the engine cover I mine our black to keep it all broken up. But I think accenting in white will look good for me. Red for you Darren.

Dude does good work for sure. I bought another set of OEM covers last week to try to paint them smooth. I have not the patience or the paint gun to make that happen!

This is when I first got mine, I'll try and find some time to pop them off and take a picture of the clear that's peeling.
20k and 1.5 years isn't too bad all things considering. He said he had only been doing it about 2 years, and took him some time the find the best technique. And 20k would be a lifetime for me since I don't daily drive haha. Thanks for the heads up.

No, I wouldn't be ok with it. I was just saying if it took 20k miles I would probably never see it happen. And I was saying he purchased right when RC just started doing them. And he told me it took a while for him to get the right technique down to get them to where they're now. They probably last much longer now so that may not happen to me. Plus in the engine bay, right above the exhaust manifolds, sitting on top of the valve covers, isn't the ideal place for painted plastic. So I don't expect it to last forever either. I have seen OEM interior finishes last half as long on twice as expensive cars just from normal use.

There is a reason that the stock coil covers are not painted (nor the Boss ones). Paint and clearcoat is not designed to endure the conditions they do where they are located. I challenge anyone with any significant driving or mileage to pull of their covers and NOT see any grease, grime or oil. I notice this anytime I look under a hood or get the covers returned to me for reuse (Which I have to clean and degrease thoroughly). You Must remove these every couple months and wash the same way you wash you car (not heavy detergents). You should also clay and put sealant on them (not wax). If the "misty" oil that is around the engine bay sits and stays on the covers with the heat that is generated, there is no way that the clear and paint can last forever.
One thing I did not do earlier when I started painting these covers that I do now is provide "care" instructions with each set of covers. I have a couple local friends here in the S. Fl heat that have their covers a couple years with no issues.
SWEDENSKY: Shoot some photos of the clear. There are no guarantees, but I am always willing to take a look at it and see If the covers and be prepped and the clear "reshot".
ALSO, yes, Proemblems is the company I was referring to with the inserts. I bought a Hydro-dipped top engine cover from them once with inserts and it came out really nice.

I bought them from the other forum mentioned allfordmustangs?
Was that you that did it? I wasn't complaining per se...more just giving my personal experience for other to judge by. Knowing mileage and time for lasting.
I don't remember doing any for anyone with your name.. I have done dozens in the past couple years. I thought YOU said that I did the covers. Regardless, post some pics up anyway. The advice that I mentioned though IS true regardless of who painted them.
