I'd like to see them put it on a better track. I hate driving on bumpy tracks. It also tends to give an advantage to those who know the track really well. Put the Porsche and 350 on the same track with the same driver.

More to that .....

From another site quoting Kerry Baldori, Chief Functional Engineering, Global Performance Vehicles at Ford:

"We brought our GT350R and our GT350 Track Pack here at Grattan to do fair, back to back same day and same driver comparisons. The GT350R with the Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires is equal to the 100th of a second as fast as the Porsche 911 GT3 and it is over a second quicker than the Z/28.

The base GT350 with Track Pack, which uses the Pilot Super Sport tire, is equal again, to within a 100th of a second to the Porsche Carerra and the Corvette C7 with the Z51 package."

I was at a track day Monday with a pretty serious crowd. The fastest laps were being put in by a BOSS 302 LS with a stone stock motor/trans. Power wasn't an issue.

He did have about the entire Multimatic catalog on it though. Dynamic dampers, big CCW wheels with Conti slicks, lots of big coolers. Still stock brake calipers though, good rotors.

I was driving my friends 07 with a really good suspension, but with 275mm 320 treadwear rated tires. It was a blast having the car unhooked front and rear almost everywhere, but it would have been more fun being able to really lean on some tires.

Eventually I would like to maybe try and move into the AIX field so with some of the power that those cars are putting down I don't think I could field a competitive car but it would be mostly for having some fun outside of your normal HPDE or Autocross days. I would like to start out with the stock suspension though and learn the car before I go ahead and jump to an entire catalog haha.

This.

A local 2012 LS owner around here has been running (racing) his the day it arrived at the lot (stock tires were bald within a month). He now has aftermarket rotors, I think he swapped all calipers to Willwood or BAER (might see his car tonight to confirm), and has a centri system in it pushing 600-700 rwhp. I'm sure bone stock it was a fun car to drive, but now with all of the power, every time he comes to the track (strip or road course), he spins the wheels, misses shifts, etc. It is just out of control.

It maybe "slight" driver error (this guy races cars like crazy, so he definitely has seat time), but it seems all the power he added has made the car a little too wild.

That is one thing I am afraid of. I tried to make the power band similar to the stock Boss motor but I think I might have gone a bit too far power wise and trying to get everything to work with the power like it would have with a stock car I think is going to be the difficult thing to do.

Same driver, same track, same day.

They were also tested against the other cars at other tracks. Same driver, same day, same track. Ford doesn't make claims they can't back up.

So I got to look at the car last night. In fact it has a Roush blower on it (someone said it was a centri before which is why I thought that), and the front rotors are slotted, rears are factory. I guess they are from "Carbon Z" from the slot design that I remember seeing last night. Suspension looked unchanged. It pushed about mid 600's on the dyno. I forgot to check what tires he was running, but the guys who did watch him run from the starting area said the car was so crazy/uncontrolled that it looked like he could have taken a dive into the other lane. However, it still manages to run 11's with sloppy passes.

The driver beats himself up a bunch over not being able to control the launches/shifts.

I was on the fence with these. But after seeing the lap times that the R puts down bone stock compared to RACE CARS, not to mention other track focused cars I want one.

I'm in for all white with a stripe delete. No electronics. 2017 model year. Super fast track day car with a warranty? Um yeah, I'm in.

If I don't get one I'll be shocked.

That's what mine is minus the no tape stripes. Bare bones no option except tape stripe GT350R.

If this thing gives me lots of headaches, I'm selling it and buying one of these things and attempting very hard to not do a thing to it. It's already perfect as is.

If I sell my Mustang and convince the wife she doesn't need a car anymore I can afford one...I pay 1000 a month for both our cars together. So that was almost 1100 for 60 months. Extend that to 72 and I'm good too go! Now just to get the wife on board...

The lap times did it for me. You can't even think of building/modding something else to run those times. Not for $65K. When I'm allowed to spout of about times you will be shocked.:dancingpoop:

It seems like a lot of money up front. But if you want to play with the big dogs on the track it's cheap.

The first thing I'll do is sell the wheels, interior/seats and probably the brakes. Those will go for HUGE money. I'll replace them with a couple of sets of aluminum "race" wheels, real race seats, roll bar, harnesses, etc. And if I sell the stock brakes I'll replace them with the real Brembo race brakes. It will be much less expensive to replace rotors (rings) and pads. And they will work better.

Everything else would be left stock. Right down to the exhaust.

I would rarely drive it on the street.

I made one earlier and it said 25k MSRP lmao. Wish it was like Amazon where they have to honor the price that was shown. Must have been a bug because it's fixed now.

Did anyone else catch this in the configurator for the GT350R...

Under the standard features:
Carbon ceramic front breaks
