Well they had to be ready before also. There would be no way to pass in Cali without them. Like I said if you passed with that tune before, you should be able to pass now. I know that recently some things have changed as far as having an actual altered tune in there but the sensors would have to be ready last year to pass.

Did you do any recent work to the car where the battery was unhooked? Did the car sit for any period of time before you tried to pass the smog?

I had my alternator changes months ago and have driven at least 2500 miles since that time so that's enough time and miles to complete a drive cycle I'd imagine.

I would think so. Kinda stumped. There is another guy on another forum that is having similar issues and I think he came to the conclusion it was his PCM.

Who is your tune from?

I would try another tune but I'm not real confident that that is going to be the issue.

My tune was from Tillman Speed.

I've contacted Bama for an emissions tune file to see if that helps. Hopefully, they'll contact me Monday. We'll see.

I passed before with the same tune.

I see no CEL or codes yet the emissions test says that my O2 sensors are "not ready" as do my handheld scanner. My scanner also says "MIL OFF" which means that the CEL is reporting off and is not malfunctioning.

I'm utterly confused. Like I said, may be California is now requiring that these monitors are reporting data.

As far as erasing history, I did that after I failed the emissions test so that had nothing to do with it.

I don't have Advantage opened right now and I'm just a hobbyist tuner so verify what I'm telling you.

IIRC You can set the number of things that will trip a mil. It used to be that sct would recommend setting it to 18 vs the stock 49. It is my opinion that the recent spate of people not passing with tunes that used to pass is because state testing became wise to tuners turning off some of the malfunction indicator lamps. This means that just not having a mil doesn't mean your vehicle is indeed emissions compliant.

Anybody know anything different?

I'm contemplating just obtaining a stock air intake and restoring my tune to stock to eliminate the tune as a source of the issue which I'm not 100% sure it is.

Only issue with that idea is that I have 3.73 gears and my speedo and automatic shift points will be off (05GT Autos come stock with 3.55). Not sure if that's safe to do - might damage the tranny.

Anyhow I just need it restored long enough to either prove that it's not the tune at fault or to change all the ODBII monitors to "ready" so that I can pass emissions testing.

That would be a logical step to take. I would not worry about the tranny. Generally the tranny shift points are determined by a series of tables involving torque load vs throttle position and things like that, not based off of speed. Having different gears is only going to throw of your speedo by a few.

Restoring it to stock had better work or else I have bigger problems like replacing the PCM. I don't even want to think about that.

Why can't they just test for pollutants from your damn exhaust and be happy with that?

Because it's the gubment! Here they test obd and exhaust. E85 works very well for emissions testing.

Well I finally have my air intake back to stock and have also reflashed back to the stock tune.

First time it's been stock in over 8 years. My speedo is off because of my gears and my idle is too low because of my UDP. Oh well.

Four ODB2 monitors are still not ready/incomplete.

I'll try driving it around tonight to see it they turn ready.

If this doesn't work, we're looking at something more serious like a PCM failure or god know what else. Furthermore, my tags expire soon which means I'll have to rent a car if it doesn't get resolved soon. :(

It worked !!

I only have one incomplete monitor (EVAP) but I think in CA I can have one monitor not ready and it will still pass.

Here are pics I took after my little drive:
