I was slapping my new alternator on and this little dudes wire is hanging by a thread, what is it called?
Some kind of noise sensor?
Don't know what to call it so can't find it on the net :Pshyco:

its a noise supressor or something like that.

lemme check DOB install instructions cause I wire into that for the relay trigger for pump/fans

Maybe the Tasca guy that is on here from time to time can identify it for you from the picture.

It's a fancy "capacitor" (or to those who used to work with points..a "condenser".
It used for filtering out voltage spikes from the injectors and coil packs.

Just splice or fix up any damage to the wire.

The pair on my 2002 F150 are messed up I think. Sometimes when I start the truck there is a low volume static noise coming from the radio. If I turn the radio off and back on again it clears up.

And also it looks like it's broken deep in the sensor, unless I dropped a melted ball of solder down there.

Never mind, figured it out. It's the noise suppression sensor, ford calls it a capacitor, as stated above. Ford part number is 5W7Z-18801-AA
