My car has no oil temp sensor. It uses the coolant temp sensor on top of the motor.

It's throwing a P0197 oil temp sensor code.

I replaced the coolant temp sensor and the same P0197 oil temp sensor code keeps coming back.

The wires seemed okay, but there were rats down there at one point. It's probably a wiring or ground issue. Car runs fine.

If I program out the oil temp sensor, would that cause the coolant temp not to read read anymore?

I need this fixed to pass inspection but I don't want to mess up the sensor's programming one out.

If I install the oil pan with the sensor hole and install an oil temp sensor in the hole, will that correct the problem? There's no oil level sensor visible on the block or oil pan. I'm not sure what it uses to sense oil level.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.
