So apparently there are 3 different oil pans for the 4.6 3 Valve.

One without an oil temp sensor
One with plastic oil temp sensor
One with brass oil temp sensor

The connector and fitting on the temp sensor is different between the plastic version and brass version.

I need to replace my oil pan and it has been a challenge to find an oil pan with the sensor hole.

I fonally found one but of course it has the brass sensor and mine is the plastic sensor.

I could get the connector end for the brass sensor so my question is can I splice in the new connector and just use the brass sensor without any issue?

TIA, I’m not sure why Ford would make two different type sensors for 2005 and 2006 then on 2007 - 2009 they did away with the sensor… above my pay grade at least.

Well I'm sure you can just go get the proper connector and splice it in. Or just cut the connectors and solder the wires. If you want to get really fancy you could do some research and see what is an acceptable voltage range for the proper sensor output and just wire in a resistor. I bypassed my rear O2s for years like this.

The 05 & 06 might use leftover SN95 pans. I have an early build 05, and over the years have discovered that there are 04 parts that are different than most 05 models. The front wheel spindles and crankshaft are 04 parts, for example. There are a couple more, but my old brain is not working this morning and can’t recall them.
