I am on the search for a 79 Pace Car fox... Dad had one that he let go for pennies... I was a youngster then and the car bug hadn't hit... I'll probably throw in some 4v setup in it...

I've done quite a bit of work to quite a few cars, and have never went quicker with less money / less work than a fox. I like them for that very much!

I'll be setting this Fox up for the occasional AutoX and Weekend Road Course track day.

Not to knock all the 1/8th mile and 1/4 mile Foxes of the world. Just want to do something different/not as common.

I'm right there with you. I had a 79 Mercury Capri that I had started to setup for corner carving, then life happened...

I wouldn't mind a Foxbody if I was focused on drag racing, but I typically cruise, drive it to work on occasion, and hit car shows. I'll hit the drag strip occasionally but it's about 2 hours away.

The S197 is my favorite body style though. Until I can afford more, I'll keep tweaking my 3V. I don't want to spend too much on my 3V though if I can jump into an affordable 11-12 GT500.

To be honest, I need to focus on getting my son a used F150 this summer and trading in my 2014 Honda Pilot which is leased. I'm waiting to see what the 2017 Explorer Sport looks like. I'm leaning towards the 3.5L Ecoboost and getting a Livernois tune plus axle back exhaust.

You do realize a base S550 GT is only 60-75lbs heavier than a base 2011-2014 GT right...

Drive one and you won't have one single complaint about the IRS. I had 3 S197s and I love the way my S550 feels planted compared to the roller skate feeling on the S197s I had. It's no comparison. Repeating what you hear from people who haven't driven one just makes you look uneducated.

Oh not to mention the fact that I have beat my friend in his 13 GT that has a CAI, tune, and Nittos while I on stock tune and tires. He's not a bad driver either.
Bring that mouth up here, young pup. This old man'll show you a thing or two. ;-)

I haven't driven an S550 on purpose. I KNOW I'd immediately want one.

Yeah, the OP is probably just reading this for the entertainment at this point.

I know I am, lol.

I've posted in it early on, and my view stands. I'd trade for a '10+ Shelby in a heartbeat.

Well that'd be a no brainer. Lol. But I was originally thinking '07-'09 as my payments would be pretty much the same.

It doesn't take much work to make a Fox go fast in a straight line. It takes a LOT of work to make it go fast around corners. You basically have to completely replace the suspension. The stock rear setup is called "Quadra-Bind" for a good reason.

From what I've seen, a low mileage 2010 is close to the price of a 2011. Do you like the 07-09s better than the 11+ GT500's?

I guess I hadn't really thought about it. Anything over $30K for now, wouldn't allow me to own the car AND mod it. lol.

So pay it off then mod it?

Easier said than done. lol. Has anyone in here paid their car completely off before modding it? Genuinely curious. That's like a 5-year old getting his dream present and not being able to open it for 5 years. lol.
