I've always kept them active. All of my motors have been stock stroke except for the current one.

The current motor will pull spark when running gasoline from some stations but it never pulls it with E85. To me this means the sensors are doing exactly what they are intended to do.

Keep in mind that more than just the knock sensors will pull spark advance. There are inputs for the iat, ect, and something else that I can't think of right now.

In any case running wot with -5 total spark advance is a good way to burn your motor up. More than likely your exhaust is glowing red at that point, good thing Ford uses Inconel exhaust valves because I think -5 would burn up any other material like stainless steel.

As far your setup not pulling timing with E85, mine still was doing the same thing when I ran it with Torco which made my 93 to about 105 octane.

RE: Bruce's comment: Wasn't the -5 an adder, ie: 19 degrees timing -5 = 14 degrees.

Have you asked your tuner or motor builder (maybe the same shop?) what they usually do with a stock bore stroker when it comes to the knock sensors? They are easy enough to turn off in the tune but the consequences might not be desirable.

Maybe you already posted it and I didn't see but would you mind posting what the spark advance is at wot? It should gradually increase throughout the rpm range at wot.

Builder - JDM says they turn them off as well on their stroker builds.

Tuner - Lito turned them off for me recently so I can go get a dyno run. Had them on all other times. He's tuned my stroker build from day 1. First was DOB, then N/A , and now on Paxton. All logs always showed spark knock at WOT.

Here is small screen shot of my last log with the KS on.

It's Spark Advance/Spark Source/Spark KS/TP Relative.
