As a former mustang forum owner , activity is the key to keep online forums going. Have you ever googled your issue that your having before and only to come up short nowadays? More and more people are going to Facebook these days. The problem with this is that when issues are asked and solved on Facebook , the solutions don't show up in google for all to view.

Now another big enemy is the "don't you know how to use the search function?" Crowd. All this does is supress forum activity. We should encourage people asking questions. How many members have we lost to some member making another member feel stupid by saying "we have a search function". For the life of me I don't know why forum members would want to supress forum activity. And forum owners how many paid memberships have you missed because of this as well?

So in saying that this is a great forum. I love it. If any of us have a question , post it. No matter how small the question is , post it. Quit saying stuff about the search function. Help a new member with anything they need. Yes Facebook is convinent but it will be the death of online knowledge base. Have s197 buddies , direct them to Tapatalk to use the forums.

By the way I have no affiliation with s197 owners or Tapatalk. I'm just a old forum owner that is passionate about the online community. It brings us all together.

Unfortunately the s197 platform is 15 years old with the last 3v made over 10 years ago. Once the Coyote engines came out everybody jumped to new forums. Several members here don't even own a Mustang any more (myself included). The ones that still own the older Mustangs aren't doing much to them any more. The race crowd doing all the mods and installing blowers have all moved to the Coyote engine since it is vastly superior to the 4.6 in every way.

This forum will die just as the Fox body forums have died. You're only relevant as long as you're relevant.

I recently started using the forums again with my latest build. There’s still valuable information to be found.
Just the other day I discovered an alternative to the plugs I was using. Now I have another great one-step colder plug, but it’s also a one piece design for peace of mind to us 3V guys!

Though I agree with some of this the 3V game is still very strong. There are tons of 3V builds that are just wrapping up and all the 3V records are about to be put on blast. (I can name 4 coming out of Indiana this spring) (Though some may not find this relevant because they have moved on, the 3V crowd is still very active.

I've never used Facebook myself, I have an account but have never activated it. My wife is on it and all my family and friends are always trying to get me on it, but I have no desire. Believe it or not I've never sent a text message. I don't believe in it and it's f-ing up people to be able to communicate face to face. I still enjoy talking to people!

Wife and I still don't even have a smart phones, we're both still using 15 year old Nokia's as all we need is to be able to do is to make a call. Keeps my phone bill low as well. $59 a month for both our phones together.

S197s still refer to 05 thru 14 mustangs. So yes we are still very very relevant. I have a coyote and loving it. So to say that we are not relevant anymore is false.

I'm well aware of that. I owned a 2014 GT for 5 years, traded it in April of this year. But this forum began fading in 2011 when the 5.0 came out and all the new 5.0 owners moved to other forums leaving this one as primarily a 3v discussion forum. There is almost no 5.0 info on this forum compared to the massive amount of 3v info.

So no, as far as the 5.0 goes this forum is not relevant or active. Click on the 5.0 forum here and see how many threads there are. I count 20 threads and #20 had its last post in 2014.

Why would s550 guys come to a s197 forum. That's why little to no posts in the s550 5.0 tech forum.

Sir I was on boards and a owner of a mustang forum before you probably ever owned a mustang. Post count means absolutely nothing. I may be new to the s197s but not to mustangs or message boards.

All I'm saying is let's get this going. I can tell the owners have put a good investment into it and love the community.

Well since I first owned a mustang in 1988..... that’s unlikely.

I didn’t mention your post count did I? I commented on your newness. You have zero idea of the history here, the culture or the members. So please do not assume you know better. Finally, if you think that’s a “flame”, proves my point.

Thanks and carry on.

Ahhhhhhh....I wish it were the old days where this kind of post would generate pages and pages of slams. So much entertainment.

I have to agree with Skwerl, our cars aren’t relavent anymore so the following isn’t there. Everyone is trading in their 3v’s for the s550 because its the new cool thing. It is what it is.

I will say that this is the busiest forum I am on though. And I would rather post/ask questions on here than facebook with all the fanboys that know nothing. You have to have at least some credability on a forum or you’ll be kicked out unlike facebook.

Give it time. It is always funny when a newbie joins and tells us how the board should be run. Now another newbie joins in. Hey newbie, its not hate. This is how the board runs and has been running since its creation. I believe an old thread needs resurrected.

All I was saying is that people flame people about using the search function. That's ridiculous. That's like saying "How dare you ask us a question!" And if no one is asking questions then forum activity takes a dive which in turn kills your Google search.

This is a great forum and alot of collective knowledge on the board. I'm not telling anyone how to run the board , just a suggestion to our members as they may not be aware of how activity effects things.

That is all. If you hate you hate. That was just my .02

I don't want anyone getting butthurt.

Right?!? Do you walk into another guys garage with all his buddies hanging out and start telling all them what's what? No. No you do not. If you do, you take your licks and become a member of the crew or tuck tail and go away.
