Years ago when I joined this forum I had a 2005 GT.
I owned it for a couple years and had two different sets of wheels on it.
Did exhaust and had other parts to install but never got around to it. It was a great car but I ended up selling it when we decided to buy our house. I enjoyed the no BS culture so much I kept hanging around for the laughs and the tech was still really good just to read.
When I was able to buy another Mustang again I decided to go back to my roots and get a foxbody again. I searched and found what I thought was a nice clean '91 LX hatchback. I gave it a the best looking over I could and bought it.
That was a mistake. Once I got it on a hoist and got under it, it had rust in every seam. Totally saveable but more work than I was willing to take on. I wanted to start with something nicer. Expensive lesson learned. I paid it off and started looking for a better car.
Then I found this '93 GT. Not perfect but a much better foundation and it had a built 331 with lots of good parts.
So here is what it looked like when I got it home. It had 17x9 and 17x10.5 Cobra wheels. I sold them in short order. Not my style.
I had a set of Weld RT/S wheels I had bought for my LX so they were bolted on. They fit the 5 lug conversion of the LX perfectly, but with the SN95 conversion on the GT they didn't get enough thread engagement after putting a small spacer on that was needed to clear the caliper. I needed to add longer studs. I could have bought different wheels, but I had over $1800 invested in the Weld wheels and selling them and starting over was not in the cards.
Here is a picture of it as it sits right now.
If you guys are willing to tolerate my slow ass pace (and the non-S197 content) and/or want to watch me throw away time and money, I'll use this thread to chronicle my assured failures and hopefully ultimately successes.
Future stories might include "Fucked up battery relocation fix" and "What was I thinking about with a full interior swap." and "Who in their right mind pulls A/C out of a street car? Let's put it back in." Other tales of whoa might include "The T5 is wounded. Let's put a TKO600 in it." and "3.73's aren't enough! 4.10's to go go!" and "Who welds stock 2.25" tail pipes to an otherwise 2.5" exhaust? Let's put a 3" system on to fix that."
I have 95% of these hard parts, paid for, collecting dust, ready to go.
